I think that ST and RHPS were so ahead of their time. Imagine if they were released today...

i have both versions, love this movie, but I wish it were as dark as Rocky Horror. If this movie did better perhaps O'Brien would have done more, really sucks that it didn't. I remember we were crying for a dvd a few years ago. We finally got it, and I was super excited.

Actually @dameinisnumberthe1 , In this movie it does not take place after the events of RHPS it is what would happen if Brad's tire didn't blow out. As many have said this is not sequal nor prequal , but an equal.

Jessica Harper would have been epic as Janet in Rocky Horror Picture Show!

I like the kinda awkward look on Janet's face when her parents join the photo with Burt.

Sadly Jessica Harper doesn't get a solo verse. Still a hell of a lot of fun.

Honestly, it was the villain that dragged this movie down. He was just too soap opera for a movie that was supposed to be a spiritual successor to RHPS.

rhps is nothing compared to this, there is not half as much meaning and context compared to shock treatment.
@olserknam10 жыл бұрын
However, RHPS has its own unique charm, the one that Shock Treatment lacked, and pretty much all the songs there were better (compare the lyrics - "Science fiction, double feature, doctor X will build a creature, see androids fighting Brad and Janet, Ann Francis stars in Forbidden Planet" with "Denton, Denton, you've got no pretension, you're where the heart is, you're okay"). Also, the original RHPS wasn't trying to be a satire about television, so that just seems unnecessary and all too sudden. The movie is not bad, but why did it need to have the same setting as RHPS?
@vincentmitchell495910 жыл бұрын
olserknam Saying that ST doesn't have it's own charm would be untrue. No, it's not the same charm that RHPS had, but comparing this film to that one is pointless. It wasn't made to be "Rocky Horror II", it was meant as a film to stand on it's own, that just so happens to take place in the same universe. And the lyrics in this movie have deep meaning too (compare the lyrics - "If that's not enough, then I am so sorry I met you, It was almost like leading you on" with "It's just a jump to the left, and a step to the right, with your hand on your hips, and tuck your knees in tight").
@olserknam10 жыл бұрын
Vincent Mitchell True, it has its own charm, but still it's not as deliciously over-the-top as RHPS. Maybe it should've been a separate movie to begin with to avoid any comparisation. BTW, you're comparing two different types of songs while I was comparing two opening songs of the movies. Also, that one you've mentioned did have some good lyrics, but it was killed by completely emotionless Jessica Harper.
@vincentmitchell495910 жыл бұрын
olserknam Yeah it's not as over the top as RHPS, but it kind of is separate from RHPS. You can watch ST without even knowing about RHPS's existence. And also "Denton USA" Isn't the opening number, it's "Overture". Denton USA is more like the Damnit Janet song of the movie. And I wouldn't call it emotionless, I think that the song called for more understated vocals

Honestly, this movie has its merits, but all the music is terrible.
