SHOCKING: Bees Swarm as We Remove Bees from a Chimney! LUCKILY the Camera was ON!

THE FOOTAGE OF THE SWARM IS AMAZING! Enjoy. Removing honey bees from a chimney is always an exciting days work for the Pest Interceptors! We certainly enjoyed the surreal sensation of being surrounded by 50 thousand honey bees as they swarmed.
What is it like to be in the centre of a honey bee swarm? Well, we found out!
This Honey bee extraction surprised us when the honey bee colony decided to swarm half way through the two day bee removal!

This is very interesting! We are in the South of France at a château and we recently found hundreds of bees on the floor in one of the many closed rooms (mostly dead, but some alive). We think they must be coming out of the fireplace and imagined there must be a huge comb like this stuck in the chimney... We wanted to try and put a new hive box with food and water in the room to attract them into it, so we could rescue them, but this looks much more complicated than we imagined. 😳🐝 - Tatyana xx

It sounds to me that the colony in the chimney swarmed. When they swarm there is a lot going on, sometimes some of the swarm gets lost and can end up in rooms they can’t get out of. Even if they swarm and the swarm moves away somewhere good for you and the bees, the original colony is still there (only a 3rd of the bees leave in the swarm, leaving 2/3rds of the non flying bees to take over the original colony!) I’m afraid that you are right, the whole colony needs to be removed and rehoused, and all the old comb must be completely removed. Perhaps you should get us to come move yours…we like the South of France 🤗

Am facing the same problem in Eswatini, the southern side of Africa. The bees are in the chimney and l have been putting fire to smoke them anticipating that they would be frustrated and leave. However, it seems not to work so far. l need a better safe solution to chase them away forever.

The only way is to take the whole colony out. All the honeycomb and brood comb needs to come out… otherwise another swarm will come and take its place. It’s a shame you are so far away my friend!
