You are 100% correct. I think we women are getting smarter about not letting on about our intentions too flee. I hope so at least. It's hard enough getting out of a toxic relationship, never mind giving these AHs the heads-up. Their narcissism and fragile egos just won't allow for letting someone go. They always have to been in control of everything and everyone.

Just wanted to add... Kind of more complicated when you have kids though. 😔 If we can all agree that her ex should not be allowed to suddenly take their son & flee, without even telling her where they're going, and when or IF he will ever return...Then obviously she can't be allowed to do that either. Either she abandons her son (and even then, he has the legal right to get the government to figure out where she is for him and make her pay child support)....or, she doesn't abandon her son, in which case there has to be some custody agreement. Even if the government/family court system doesn't officially get involved & put the custody agreement in writing...Some amount of communication before she leaves entirely must be had, especially before she can take full custody of their son...And full custody is the only way she could not abandon her son, while reaching the end goal of still fleeing & cutting off contact with him in order to protect herself. Sharing any amount of custody with him requires living nearby to him, requires some amount of contact with him, and just in general means he *will* be in her life to some extent...making it impossible to achieve that goal. The one mom I can think of who did do what you (and everyone else) advises (including myself when possible)...is one who ultimately had to immediately flee the country with her children and raise them in complete secrecy. Because naturally, the father reported them all missing, ultimately reporting her for kidnapping, and demanded the government find her, find the missing kids, and return them. The whole time after she fled with their kids, she was a wanted woman, a fugitive, and was hunted by the government. The father didn't even know if they were still alive until she was finally discovered & turned in, after over a decade of successful hiding. She claims that the father was abusive, and the only way to protect her & their children from him was if she had full custody...something she was unable to get (and something the father fiercely fought against). She's in prison regardless and her kids are left with the father, now awkwardly trying to form a relationship with them. Her children, now old enough to understand & advocate for themselves, are defending her. The one daughter who was willing to do interviews seems like a very well raised & well adjusted girl, and she definitely loves her mother & stands by her, as she waits for her to be released from prison. Obviously the father now has unfettered access to the kids...and they weren''t old enough to be on their own. However, I'm not too worried only because the case has gotten so much publicity that hopefully he will behave...and obviously, he cannot harm the mother until she's out of prison. It's a wild story! And basically what you need to do if you truly want to try to escape your abusive partner without giving them notice, without leaving the children alone with them...either when you abandon them when you flee without notice, or when you go to jail for illegally kidnapping them without notice. 😔

I'm waiting for one of these shows to start with, 'In a bland housing estate, a not-particularly attractive middle-aged woman was killed. Friends say she was a bit dull and not very noticeable. She had no outstanding talents and had never been popular or attractive to men. Most of her co-workers at the insurance agency where she worked as a billing clerk said she was the kind of person whose conversation seemed self-erasing, 'You forgot what she said as soon as she said it,' a file-clerk said. 'She was pleasant, but kind of like air is pleasant; she just wasn't that memorable.' Her parents say their daughter never showed much interest in leaving home or making friends, and spent her free time watching TV and knitting toilet-paper covers in the shape of poodles because she was allergic to real dogs and cats. Since she was 12, the victim had kept a detailed diary of what she did every day, taking special note of how much dust the vacuum cleaner bag contained and every pimple she ever had. The diary revealed that she had no friends or dreams or hopes or plans and seemed perfectly content with her life, especially when she had a particularly good bowel movement. You know - just the most boring person you can imagine. But it's always someone described as a great loss to everyone with huge potential. Surely boring people are victims of crime, though, aren't they?

A guilty of murder verdict should hold a mandatory life sentence. That’s what the murderer subjected the victim and their family and friends to. If they’re TRULY innocent, they have a lifetime to let the court system readjust that verdict.

Why is it that in cases such as this-when a woman discovers definitively that her domestic partner is a lying, untrustworthy, unethical, possibly dangerous individual and quite possibly a *sociopath*--she almost invariably CONFRONTS the partner with his deceit *BEFORE* she has moved out; REVEALS to the dangerous, amoral partner what her new life plans AS A **SINGLE** woman are; and then FOOLISHLY continues to spend time ALONE with this individual as she prepares to move out ?!?!? Elsina seems to have had *many* good friends. During the relatively short time of her moving out, she should have asked some of her good friends if she and her son could stay at their homes at night. And during the day, she should ALWAYS have taken someone with her when she went back to the old home to retrieve her possessions. If possible, Elaina should have al ways *tried* to bring TWO of her friends (or one of her friends with her boyfriend) with her as she finished up her move. My point is this: it ABSOLUTELY WAS *not* Elaina’s “fault” that Sione turned out to be a homicidal sociopath. I’m not a fan of **VICTIM BLAMING.** I’m simply saying she should have made it **NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR SIONE TO SEE EITHER HER SON OR HERSELF ONCE SHE’HAD DETERMINED SHE WAS GOING TO END THE RELATIONSHIP AND MOVE OUT.
