@WillieFungo6 ай бұрын
Currency numbers actually don't matter much unless you are doing short term forex trading. But in terms of cost of living, food at restaurants is around the same as the U.S., transportation is slightly cheaper, and housing/hotels are significantly cheaper. Quality city center hotels go for around $50-$70.
@Wolff136 ай бұрын
Capeverdean currency (escudo) is pegged to the euro, therefore it doesn’t fluctuate wildly: $1 is around 105$, written in its form in Cabo verde. 🇨🇻

@@cromy1778 I didn't say public transport, I said transport ie taxi cabs. From the airport in Praia to the city center is $10-$15 both ways, which is not affordable at all, considering the distance. Also feel free to name a good restaurant in Praia which isn't a tourist trap.

People talk about how clean Praia is, unfortunately this is not true everywhere. On Sal island (Which is the most popular island for tourists) the centre of the main tourist town, Santa Maria, is kept quite clean, but walk just a few minutes from the centre and it is horrifically dirty and you are still surrounded by small hotels and tourist apartment buildings so you are not "Out in the sticks" so to speak. There is so much rubbish, dog faeces and building rubble everywhere it really is disgraceful for an Island that relies so heavily on tourism. if you ask a local person about the things that are not good on Sal they will all say the same thing "All the money stays in Praia". Don't get me wrong, I like being on Sal in winter, the climate and longer hours of daylight compared to the UK is an obvious bonus, and the local people are generally nice and pretty laid back, but the lack of cleanliness in Santa Maria is disgraceful and makes me wonder if this is true on other Islands.
@WillieFungo5 ай бұрын
Santa Maria was definitely odd. But i think the problem there is that it is basically deserted. No one seems to actually live there. On the other hand, Espargos actually looked like a normal clean city.
@z3llc4235 ай бұрын
Well, the cleanest island is Fogo. São Filipe is the cleanest city in Cape Verde. I've lived abroad for about 12 years, but I believe it still holds the title of the cleanest city in Cape Verde. Fogo people have a different approach when it comes to cleaning.
