Inner Mongolia and Mongolia was once one province under the Qing Dynasty. After the fall of Qing dynasty, Mongolia was colonized by the Soviet Union. Inner Mongolia went back to China. There is a very sizable Mongolian population throughout China. When those girls with the Mongolian traditional outfit said they're Chinese, I think it meant that they are Chinese by nationality but Mongolian ethnically. It's quite Ironic that the Mongolians in Inner Mongolia preserve the Mongolian culture much more than the Mongolians in Mongolia.

That is completely wrong, they were never one province. outer Monglia was known as Khalkha Mongolia, under Qing dynasty, inner mongolia were south mongolia(漠南蒙古). the manchrian royal family would only marry women from south mongolia. more like south mongolia were closer to manchuria, and Khalkaha mongolia were mercenaries for the Qing dynasty.

Khitan, and Jin(manchurian), had always seen themselves as the successor of the Han dynasty the real China and had always controled northern China. Manchu were ruled by earlier Ming dynasty, before they revolt by allying with another faction of Han Chinese. China isn't defined by one ethnic group only. It has over 50 ethnicities. Similarly, India isn't defined by one ethnic group only, India has over 2,000 ethnicities.

Just a little information I want to add, actually majority of the population of Inner Mongolia is Han Chinese (78.7%) and Mongols are 2nd largest (17.7%). Rest are Manchu, Hui & other ethnic groups. Meanwhile in Hohhot, it's Han Chinese (87.2%), Mongol (10%) & others 2.8% (Based on 2020 Chinese national census). The culture is mixed of Chinese & Mongolian as we can see. Though it's majority Chinese, many non-Mongolians also kind of respect and follow Mongol customs it seems. We can also see Mongolian language is written everywhere and people wearing Mongol cloths and practice the culture. But language wise it's pretty much Mandarin speaking, even many Mongols solely speak Mandarin (Though Mongolian languages are also present but minority). Inter-ethnic marriages between Mongols & Han Chinese are pretty common. In recent time the percetange of Ethnic Mongol & mixed race are increasing there. Although overall China does not follow religion that much, and more than half of the population are not associated with any religion (Atheist & Agnostic), Inner Mongolia seems pretty religious (Mixed of Buddhism & Chinese-Mongolian fold religions) as well as good number of Christians and Muslims present there. I guess because it's because of the presence of Mongols & Hui and the Han population seems to be more religious than Beijing and other parts of China. Overall good video, I really enjoyed it. Just wanted to add the information about Inner Mongolia which I have researched.
