when my sister in law was studying in China,, she went to a shop that sold "seconds" of Prada handbags..... the factory was making real Prada but they were also selling "seconds" of their brand..

I stumbled across your channel while trying to figure out something really nice to buy my sweetheart for Christmas. Day one, I learned Luxury is dead. Day two, I learned about some scandals. Day three, I made a playlist of scandals to listen to while trucking. Give me another month, and I'll be more educated in this than my sweetheart, so I hope I can explain why I ain't buying any of this crap now. She wants a cat, but I'd rather buy Chanel than live with a cat.

And when the fakes look like 90% real, and the real have quality issues like the fakes.. does it matter now? Wheres your money's worth?

I have witnessed myself first hand those factories in China that are under contract for many luxury brands. Dacob speaks the truth. Actually in China, everyone knows about this and all the locals say that there are only two kinds of handbags in the grey market: Fake and Non-contracted authentics. This is also the reason why everyone in China seems to sport a luxury bag...because they don't pay full price for them. Some of them are replicas, but some of them are non-contracted authentics

Thank you. I sent my mum to the store in Sydney and she walked in and said it’s all fake. That was over 2 years ago. The girls in the shop were doing nothing 😂

It is 100% illegal to sell fakes in Australia. The owner of cosette has been in trouble with a previous business she had that went through the law courts. She came back later and opened cosette. She has contacts in Europe and a damn good lawyer.

Dacob, thanks for the update on this. Talking about authenticating bags, another reason that authentication is dangerous is What about all the stolen bags? Do the brands record those bags code details in their system? It would seem problematic to buy and sell things. I sell pre-loved handbags and I’m very careful on newer modern items, I really don’t sell bags after 1990. The more Vintage, the bag, the better I can do more research and have learned much over the years. But I really try and stay away from especially Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

I have had a few items manufactured in China, the raw materials used to create my product came from America and Italy. The raw materials needed were not available in China so I had to send my raw materials to them to use for their manufacturing process. Here’s how the process goes. Let’s just say I need 100 pieces manufactured, out of 100 pieces Manufactured 13 of them are faulty and are not able to be sold. So I receive 87 perfect units. The factory does not send me the scraps of the faulty units. They “dispose of them “, or so they say. Now, in theory, they have extra raw materials not available to them in their country. I’m almost sure that they could take my scraps and make another product just like they’ve been making and keep it who’s gonna know. And I would almost bet that CHANEL & all the other brands are sending their materials They want used over to them.

And this, my friend, is WHYI LOVE my DUPES and my REPLICAS. No sky high costs for them, no worrying and having to baby the bag and just enjoy using it OR having to worry if its authentic or not. I would bet MOST of these "LUXURY: brands are 95 percent manufactured in China. We have been played for fools spending thousands of dollars to put on the dog.

Even the luxury glasses industry under Luxottica has been hit as people don't want their brand name glasses stolen off of their faces. The more suble, durable and plain but affordable the frames are they more popular they've been selling. People aren't amused by luxury anymore they don't want to robbed, paid for overpriced goods with cheap manufacturing and they're more concerned about affording everyday essentials like housing, food, utilities and gas than showing off their brand names.

The intrinsic value of any handbag (or any other item) is limited to the value of the materials it’s made of. This means that the tougher the financial situation, the closer the resale value of an authentic designer bag will be to the value of its leather and hardware, so if you buy a replica outright you’ll get a high-end bag that’s closest to the value of the raw materials.

might as well just buy the damn fake for a few 100 at this point in the first place if we aren't shopping retail 🤦♀ Its us as consumers who get screwed. We don't have any obligation to protect these brands when they will sell us cheap chinese trash themselves.

But maybe this is the whole scheme! They KNOW extras will be sold on the side, and THEN they can come after resellers and make a profit. Maybe their complaining is just part of their 💰 game.

So is there a point of buying preloved if the risk is so great? And also sounds like buying from fake sellers is no less immoral than from the actual brands if the works are treated in similar way and the quality sucks. I must say years ago someone I knew bought a fake it looked really good but the big giveaway was the discusting chemical smell.

And that's why I buy from lesser known name brands & not the name itself. I always wanted a classic Chanel bag, but when I saw that they highjacked their prices & lower their quality with less than European labor standards from those making the bags, no thanks. I refuse to be part of their greed & being ripped off even from such an iconic brand. Besides their greed is their downfall. Just wait, many will flood to second market as ppl will have hit hard times themselves & will see only a fraction of the price paid. We are already seeing this in the second market in Japan & soon back here & elsewhere in the world. Bye bye luxury brands, no more duping us regular folks to pay for clearly a criminal enterprise just a legal one. This is happening now with the real diamond market verses the manmade kinds.

If you didn’t trust authenticators who do you use personally?
@KateDreyer2 ай бұрын
I can potentially see how cosette was able to be cleared. Hear me out. Firstly, You said it yourself that the 3rd party authenticators are not to be trusted and the only "authority" on this is the brand itself. Secondly, as far as i can remember, Cosette was always claiming they work with brands directly and get their products directly from the brands. So, in theory, if Cosette has the right documents to prove to the judge that they are getting their stock from official brands, together with the fact that the 3rd party authenticators are not the real authority, this could have, potentially, be enough for the cosette to be cleared. I never really trusted cosette even before they got in all the trouble. Could they, in theory, "dilute" their original stock with some fakes? I dont know? Maybe? Who knows! What i do know is i don't believe neither Mel nor Cosette, but it's just me being my sceptic as usually 😅

Love this video. Love what you said about the replica bag part. Because I bought a replica LV never full a year ago and on the small leather part have water stains from the rain and it leaves wondering wear it was made in China. Was it a extra bag that they had left over because they over massed produce. The only difference I noticed was where the ID number tag was placed. Which was placed at the top of the bag instead under the pocket or to the side. To make it fake/replica bag.

I only buy bags that I know how to authenticate "in person" meaning I only do meet up to personally inspect the bag then purchase it.. Gucci for example is very easy to authenticate because even the mirror copies of Gucci is easy to spot in person once you already have the legit one. I will never buy Dior, and Bottega because they are hard to spot in person.
