Trump's debate performance wasn't good, no... but it WAS waaay better than Biden's, which was downright catastrophic. Trump lied constantly but he held it together, spoke clearly and confidently, and didn't yell over the dead mic attempting to interrupt. There is a reason there are 2 people on the ticket. You are voting for both of them, and if there needs to be a change at some point it's like having a coach in the waiting on a sports team. I think they should even consider selling it like that. Even if Biden is elected I there is a good chance he steps away at some point before 4 years. Having him as a figure head and letting Harris do more still works. The only thing you really lose is him being able to call Trump out on his lies in one more debate, if that even happens. I'd also sell the fact Trump is 78 and overweight. Statistically he's just as likely if not more so to die or be unable to finish. That narrative needs to be combated more.

One thing to remember: In this cycle, Biden has Cornel West, Jill Stein, and RFK Jr. taking support from Biden (or whatever Democrat tops the ticket). He didn’t have this many people leeching support from him in 2020. This could account for some of the loss you see in the polls.

Considering how much time this guy spends looking at polls I’m surprised he hasn’t mentioned that some pollsters have acknowledged that there’s a bias towards the Right in most polls. The reason for this is that most polls are calculated based on data from the 2020 Census and there is evidence that shows certain demographics that tend to vote Democratic were undercounted, such as racial/ethnic minorities, young adults, and college students.

Ethan, I remember the video you made a while back talking about how polling data didn’t make sense, how state polls from the same pollster weren’t adding up when you compared them to each other or compared to the national polls. I think it’s the same case with these morning consult polls. In no world is trump winning pennsylvania by 7 while biden wins michigan by 5 or trump wins Georgia by only 1. It doesn’t make sense, not for this cycle at least. I’d like to see more battleground state polls from other pollsters before I think we can really make the statement that Biden isn’t drowning right now. One set of polls does not “reaffirm” anything. You of all people know this. On another note, while the article with 538 running the model on Harris is interesting, it’s not gospel. There are certain abstract elements to a race that can’t be put into a model and there is also limited polling around harris, especially in battleground states. We simply just don’t know who would be a better choice and it’s unfair to say that Biden is likely the better choice based on this alone. I usually agree with your analysis but this video does feel a bit like you’re seeing what you want to see rather than seeing it purely from an analytical standpoint.

As someone who is fairly left leaning, I doubt Harris would be seen as 'leftist' at least amongst people who share my political beliefs. If anything, I consider her to be on the right of Biden. Biden has far exceeded my expectations so far, and is probably the most left leaning president we've had since Carter. Harris on the other hand has been a massive disappointment. If she thinks that she's on track to be President, she's deluding herself. I have yet to hear anyone speak positive of her.

I feel like people project whatever they want to on Kamala Harris, without actually assessing her on the merits of how she's done her job. The VP does not typically have muchexplicit responsibility. Biden was the VP for 8 years and I barely knew anything about him in 2020, the first year I voted (at 35 years old), I had to watch some interviews and look up his history to make sure I wasn't just being a reactionary idiot. I didn't watch the news or pay attention to politics pre-2020, and I wanted to be completely fair and not blindly voting for one side because i hate the other. I've seemed to have a real knack for analyzing things, I've been correct about alot of predictions I wasn't even making, including seeing the insurrection coming basically from the debate onward (though in hindsight , it's obvious, at the time I don't think the media was sounding the alarm as loud as they should have been) , and also being accurate about how trumps legal issues would play out. I dont say this to boast but I'm just trying to say that my past is apolitical and non partisan and my value system lies definitely not in the Republican Party. That being said, I just don't see all this bad stuff about Kamala Harris with my own eyes that people ascribe to her, and she's done some good interviews I thought in the last year or so, but she's not supposed to be front and center just by what the traditional role of the vp is. The difference between the 2 parties right now imo, is that one side is made up of alot of different backgrounds, and overlapping but some different priorities, but all at least rational in one sense or the other. The other side spends all their time inventing an alternate reality and abusing our technological advancements purely for power, in support of christofascists who explicitly seem to want to dismantle everything that was sold to me as making America a better place. I hate politics and long for the days where I didnt have to worry about shit like this, but this aint even a left or right thing anymore, this is a moment where we choose relative stability, or pure unknown chaos and potential horror. I dont htink Biden should drop out, I think the media panicked hard about his debate performance without even pausing to take a breath, I even wrote a medium article on the debate night afterwards saying that the media was going to go nuts writing articles the next day about how biden blew it, and my message was to not panic, or overanalyze it as if all of the sudden he turned into a political pumpkin or something. Yeah he looked bad but I can't imagine how I would have reacted if I was prepared by a team of 'experts' for an event that was totally different than the one I showed up to. He humanized himself in my view that night, and I think it actually helped in the long run (it may have even helped in the short term if people would stop freaking panicking about it) . If we're being honest with ourselves, everyone in America lost that night and the only winner was CNN and the people who get paid to talk about this shit. I'm turning 40 next year and Biden is by far the most effective president in my lifetime, as far as actually trying to do his job as well as he can instead of grandstanding about stuff like so many Presidents in my lifetime have seemed to do. He is a man of great character, he is wiser and smarter than anyone wants to give him credit for, he gives me the feeling that he actually really cares about the country and the constitution, it's not just an act like so many other politicians do. Obviiously none of this is 100 % but there is a sense of safety in him being president to me, and that's honestly the point of the damn job - it bothers me that I have to sound like im some fanboy to get this point across to people. I trust most of the elected democrats especially in the house, or the democratic governors for the most part, to do the same. When I look at the Republicans all I see is unpredictability, instability, irrationality, and grievance based hatred morphing with the worst of organized religion into this minoritarian monster. I have no loyalty to either party either, I'm fairly new to this so I just evaluate everything according to the most reasonable standards I can come up with. There is no amount of weed I could smoke that would ever make me vibe with even the GOP of yesterday.

He's normally conservative, yet he's pro-union, anti-monopoly/big business. The media leans *neoliberal,* not left or progressive. Neoliberals generally support the status quo.
