Let me make this clear !!! For the civil engineering branch doing MTech is a waste of time unless you are doing it in top ranked IITs and some top NITs. Because placement is very pathetic & CTC is very low. Instead of going for an MTech try to gain some field experience in construction soon after BTech which will help you to get a career headstart. You can then get yourself placed in good companies. Because nobody is going to choose an MTech graduate over a BTech graduate with 2-3 years experience. Please think so much before going for MTech. In general MTech in India is a scam actually that doesn't make you industry ready. PS: This is my experience that i am talking about. Problems that i am facing. Being a person having completed MTech in Structural Engineering from NIT and still unemployed & struggling because no one needs a PG. They just want experienced people. This makes MTech irrelevant. #Edit: Now I'm working as a Structural Design Engineer.
