I think they interviewed him to find out why he did something that isn’t allowed, I think he said it was a genuine mistake, yeh right! He knew exactly what he was doing was wrong. If he’s reading this then he should hang his head in shame. He can speak English he knows the rules and decided to break them. The police should have gone and spoke to him. Now this is in the internet forever, you will always be known as the idiot who tried to do something to the kings guards and horse. Don’t you know if you hold the reigns it’s like holding the steering wheel of someone else driving. Stupid stupid thing to do. You could have done serious harm. Go away and don’t come back.

he said oh, he forgot and did it because he saw someone else do it - really? all the police have to tell him there are signs/rules for reasons, that these are the King's military guard soldiers - both horse and rider - and that the guard could do much more than yell at him if necessary! I truly dislike those that want to put/pet their hands near the horse's eyes - horses don't like it and can make them nervous - the majority of these idiot tourist don't even realize when a horse lays its ears back it IS NOT happy!

That's like grabbing the steering wheel from the driver. Do people really not get these are elite British soldiers on one of the most important duty stations in the service. They take their duty extremely serious because it is.
@John-G
@John-G 9 ай бұрын
No, people really don't get it because apart from in the rather limited world of ceremonial duties these are NOT "elite soldiers", which in the British Army applies only to Tier 1 and 2 SF, and this is anything but "one of the most important duty stations in the service" but is simply HQ London District and the Household Division, concerned solely with ceremonial duties which 95% of the Army take no interest in.
@dougcoombes8497
@dougcoombes8497 9 ай бұрын
@@John-G Call them whatever you want, they come from one the senior UK Regiments and qualified for one of the most important posts in the UK military. They aren't just protecting buildings, they are the physical and honor Guards of the British Monarchy. Through which all authority is granted in both the UK and Commonwealth nations. Here in Canada it is the King in Parliament that authorizes our government to pass laws. And the King on the Bench that authorizes our judges to pass judgement based on those laws. I find it hard to think of a more important duty station for anyone in the British military. And they do it with a level of professionalism and elan that should make us all in the Commonwealth proud. Sounds pretty damn elite to me.
@John-G
@John-G 9 ай бұрын
@@dougcoombes8497 While I have no real problem with your calling the HCMR an "elite" in terms of mounted ceremonial, that's mainly because they're the only one in the UK bar the King's Troop RHA, which is considerably smaller and only does state ceremonial and shows, except for the one month a year when they stand in for the HCMR doing King's Life Guard duties, and there are so few others elsewhere that do mounted public duties of any comparable size. The only one, really, is the French Republican Guard, and they're unarguably a cut above HCMR as we send our best students to learn at their Cadre Noior at Saumur for several months, when we very occasionally have any who are good enough. If you're the only unit in the Army doing it, and only one of a small handful internationally, it's hard not to be "elite" - it's a bit like Eddie the Eagle being the "elite" of British ski jumping. Your view of who and what they're "protecting" is simply wrong. HCMR are not "protecting buildings" at all - that isn't their role at Horseguards, or anywhere else, as their role is purely ceremonial. The responsibility for "protecting" MoD property such as Horseguards lies strictly with the MoD Police (the armed police in the videos) and the MPGS, absolutely not, under any circumstances, the HCMR. In the event of any threat to Horseguards or the vicinity they simply go back to the stables and lock the doors, as they would otherwise be a distraction at best and and in the way at worst - as they have done on several occasions, including recently. Neither are they "physical" guards for the British monarchy - that's strictly SO14's job. If you "find it hard to think of a more important duty station for anyone in the British military" then you evidently know extremely little about the British military, or probably any other. Horseguards is of historical significance as the old location for the War Office, but that was well over a hundred and fifty years ago. Now all it houses are the H Cav Museum and HQ London District and HQ the Household Division, which are on a direct par in terms of "importance", apart from for ceremonial, with any other District or Divisional HQ - the last place anyone looking to be posted to an "important duty station" would want to go to, compared to, say, the MoD Main Building in Whitehall, Strategic Command in Northwood, Army HQ at Marlborough Lines, or the ARRC. or countless other "duty stations" such as the Land Warfare Centre at Warminster or JSCSC. Like any other District or Divisional HQs, they're dead end administrative posts. As for your views on how "the Commonwealth" works 😂 .....
@John-G
@John-G 9 ай бұрын
@@dougcoombes8497 Sorry, but your knowledge of "the Commonwealth' and "the Monarchy" is poor, at best - and I'm being very generous. The British Monarchy has NO 'authority" over Commonwealth nations at all. Zip, nada, none. NONE. That isn't 'my view', but simple fact. Of the 56 member states only 15, so barely a quarter, have King Charles as nominal Head of State and that will undoubtedly end in the next few years for several of those from Australia, to Belize, to several in the Caribbean; five more such as Brunei and Malaysia have their own monarchs on a par with King Charles, and the remaining 36 (two thirds) are republics; the last four states to join (Mozambique, Rwanda, Gabon and Togo) were Belgian, German, and French colonies, and they've never been subject to British authority at all, let alone the British Monarch's. The British Monarch doesn't even have any "authority" in the UK, and hasn't had for a long time - they just do what they're told by the Prime Minister, and that's how it's been for several hundred years. While a couple refused to sign Acts of Parliament over three hundred years ago, that was only on the instructions of the Prime Minister and none have tried it since - before that, Charles I had his head cut off when he tried it, Charles II was sent into exile until invited to return subject to toeing the line, and James II was exiled and replaced by William and Mary. More recently when Queen Elizabeth II did what she was told by the PM, Boris, proroguing Parliament in 2019, it was found to be illegal by the Supreme Court and Parliament resumed sitting the next day without even bothering to wait for the Queen to do anything. Despite costing the taxpayer some £150 million a year, in the UK at least their only function now is as an overpaid 'meeter and greeter", nothing else. Personally I think it's not just absurd but degrading for any country in the 21st century to have a foreigner as their Head of State, however nominal, symbolic or ceremonial the position is, but unlike all the above which is fact that's just my personal opinion.

As a Texan that grew up riding, rodeoing etc Live in Fort Worth where our sheriff's and police in tge downtown and stockyard area are mounted, I think y'all have got to start ticketing these people and, they have to pay before they can leave the country. If you grab the reins of any sheriff's horse etc, you are going to jail. And we have a lot of foreign tourists in the stockyard area of Ft Worth. If you grab the reins of someone who is mounted, unless there is some sort of problem, YOU are going to have a problem. This is something you just do not do and you will get hurt if you do.

Good job Guard. My cat was laying on my computer desk and ran under my bed. Cat scared me when she jumped. I am still laughing.

Im so glad the guards are allowed to yell at these stupid tourist again, i cant believe how many ignorant people there are in this world, people need to start showing respect to these guards and horses, theres no reason anyone should be allowed to touch the horse or guard or to crowed the horse.

Unless justified they're not. Tourists ARE allowed to touch the horse, stand close for photos, etc. That's the policy and part of public duties.

I couldnt help but laugh when he ran so fast, or smile at the expression on the guardsman's face when he was telling the police officer what happened. Only thing that would have made it better is if the guardsmans equine partner had bitten him

Personally I think “Don’t touch the reins Thank you” is too soft. As usual nowadays. Should read “it is FORBIDDEN to touch the harness”.
