Unless your first opinion was going through Cleveland Clinic (which I doubt from your description of not having much experience), then Mayo is absolutely the best place to put Charlie's life! We are needing an aortic valve replacement and Mayo and Cleveland do so many of these valve replacements, when it is still brand new technology for our biggest local city hospital. Go with the experts when it comes to surgery if your insurance and situation will allow you too! This is Great News!!!!

You’ve got two very differing opinions and you’ve chosen the one who said what you wanted to hear. Personally, I’d get a third opinion just to confirm that this surgery isn’t going to be fatal.

Its so important to get a second opinion! One time my mom took my brother to the dentist, and they said he had 9 cavities. She decided to get a second opinion, and that dentist said he had none! So hard to tell who's in it for the money! Hope everything goes well for Charlie! Take care!

when it comes to health and a big surgery like that, it good to get as many options as you can. i think with Charlie as young as he is, his recovery will probably be a lot better, he's gonna of course take it slow, but all least he won't have to be laid up in a bed for weeks to recover and hopefully he'll be up on his feet within a few days and slowly get back to the awesome kid he is.

What an incredible update, Amy! ❤️ So happy for you and that you followed your instincts and got a 2nd opinion. You will be in the best care at Mayo- my mom was there 4 years ago for brain surgery and received the absolute best care. It seems weird, but it was a special time for all of our family because we knew they were the best, I hope that’s exactly what you experience too! 🙏🏻

I believe the trans catheter only repairs the valve. Open heart replaces or sometimes repairs

That surgery thats through your leg that balloon they had to place something so that if I need another surgery they can do it through my leg

So glad they are able to do that approach on him. I take care of adults that have the trans catheter approach for their valves and it makes the recovery a breeze compared to the alternative. 🤍
