My 1 year old son has tof, he just had his second open heart surgery in January. It is amazing what procedures and technology is bringing to the table to save lives. Thank you for the update, I am so glad he is thriving. It continues to assure me that my son will full fill a long, happy, healthy life. I will be praying for you guys and the up coming events!

Please also consider a pig value. My mom wanted the mechanical because she said she was told they last a few more years. The big problem is that if you get sick with bacterial infections they stick to those mechanical valves. My mom ended up having a stroke because they couldn’t figure out why she had so much bacteria even after long hospital stays. She had a second stroke and they found that she had “vegetation” from the bacterial infection on her valve. This broke off and caused the strokes. They said even though they did their intravenous lines with heaviest antibiotics that because it is not made of tissue the antibiotics can not penetrate those valves. I remember begging her to get a pig value when she was trying to decide only because I had heard the recovery was better and less likely to reject, I had no idea the part about bacterial infections. So if you all do decide mechanical is the best route please please be mindful if he is ever sick due to bacterial infections to check that valve - watch for the tick sound it makes to get louder too. I’m not trying to scare, I wish I had it in the back of my mind to watch for that so I could have advocated and had my mom here with me still. Love your family and I KNOW whatever you choose is the very best decision either way! ❤

We won't know until they are done with it. They are going to have them all available. 🤞 Medtronic or Edwards...I dont know which one goes with harmony and sapien... Heart stuff is so confusing to me.
