Me too. The spiritual is somewhat 1st nature in many of these talks. There's something incredibly annoying about Protestant sermons....shame on me for saying it so bluntly. Maybe it's a kind of..smacking arrogance, or loudness, or the love of performance and spectacle I find so insufferable. Idk. It's not as virtuostic by a long shot as this Rabbi's comfort level with mystical exposition. There's humility, but it's a real virtue, not practiced. It resonates with me. The Yiddish mannerisms crack me up.

Thank you immensely Rabbi!...I was born in the Winter of 1969.To put it mildly my Parents were too ill-equipped to ever have a child.I was Blessed to have Grandparents that took up the slack, they willingly rescued and raised me.Mom and Dad split up permanently when I was 10.They rarely showed each other any love when I was growing up.They were either not around each other at the same time,arguing or fighting,I mean real physical violence.My dad never hit my mom, he would hold her down while she spat and hurled curses upon him while I watched. Sometimes she would kick him in the crotch or smash a bottle or plate over his head drawing blood.She back-handed me in the eyes with diamond rings and cut my corneas. She sent me to the hospital once by ripping a hole in my arm with a broken metal broom while I was in a walker; I had just been in a car wreck a few months earlier and couldn't walk.These are just a few of the things and some even worse that I can't share on this family- oriented channel.Im still working through traumas- mental and physical.If it weren't for my Faith in Adonai I would be dead long ago.15 years back my Therapist diagnosed me with all of the D's: ADD,ADHD,OCD and PTSD.When She told me that I burst out laughing. I felt comfortable around her because she was my friend's mom.It was strange having her as my Doctor but I trusted her because she was a straight-shooter and didn't prescribe any crappy pills for me like others have done in the past. My Grandparents substituted but could never truly be my parents.They did the best they could under the circumstances.They provided everything for me: food,clothing, shelter and love the best they knew how.They were born in the early 1920's and were raised harshly in large families of 13 and 11 siblings- constant drama and competition. I live alone now and have nobody screaming at me.l have 4 houseplants for pets lol! Keep up the Good Work Sir and Shalom Hava!

Your words really touched me, I never thought of my soul in this way. I live with my family at the moment and though I love them, in their own ways they drive me up the wall at times. Just gotta grin and bear it most of the time as I have expressed to them before, I do not wish to make others uncomfortable with my personal preferences. I am very quiet person who thrives in a calm environment and need some quiet to be able to still my mind and my very energetic and fickle spirit. My family is quite chaotic but they thrive in what I perceive to be chaos. The part about building a home for my soul to thrive really spoke to me and made me realize why I have been suffering very much since moving back with them (had to move back in because of the end of a relationship and even when I did move out it was mostly to be away from them) and I thought myself a bad person because I could not live with their lack of self awareness. I feel more determined to get myself out of this situation and though I’m sure I’ll miss the chaos just a tad when I finally build my own little nook to dwell in and let my soul thrive, having a home of my own will allow me to finally spread my wings so to speak. I’m a very tolerant person who had a horribly violent and merciless upbringing, for context, I feel most “myself” and at peace when I am in complete quiet and in an environment I can control. So you can imagine, I can’t even recharge myself living here with them. So I’m constantly frazzled. If anyone goes through this, know you’re not alone and if you work hard and have faith, things will get better. I’m truly grateful to you and your video. You’ve got a new subscriber good Sir ♥️

As JESUS CHRIST says David call ME LORD. The WORD PICTURE Hebrew is vital for understanding, knowledge and wisdom in the WORD OF GOD. You are not too take way or add anything to the WORD OF GOD. HE IS THE GREAT MATHEMATICIAN, everything is in it's correct order. Just as the DNA,code too the witness of the heavens/stars/constellations is in their correct order. The heavens do declare THE GLORY OF THE LORD,that's a fact.

I had to re-read this because I thought I had written it and forgot I had done so. I have lived this exact story so I know exactky what you are saying. Especially the bit about needing a quiet environ4ment to live in. Although stable my childhood home was noisy and abusive because my mother was mentally unbalanced and was always getting angry and frustrated and would take it out on me I think the need for a quiet space was a combination of our gentle natured souls trying to survive in such a hectic environment together with a touch of trauma induced PTSD, and as you say we needed quiet to maintain a level of control in our lives. I believe it was also to process all of the aggression and hostility going on around us and also directed towards us, which made no sense to us at all. What I eventually realised though was that the longer I stayed living with my parents as an adult the deeper I fell into hopelessness and helplessness, because I was at their mercy and they knew that and weaponised it against me. But by getting angry and hurt and upset I realised I was giving my power away and allowing myself to remain stuck in old negative patterns especially the destructive dependency on them because I had no money and no home of my own anymore even though I was now an adult with children of my own. So one day God opened my eyes and led me to an inspirational self help book (The Power) and it literally changed my life. In fact it transformed my life and I've never looked back. I've gone from strength to strength and achieved so much its incredible. Most importantly I learnt two things. Firstly never to give my power away again and secondly never to worry about the future. Just focus on what I want and then work hard to get it never allowing negative self defeating thoughts to get a look in and derail my aspirations. Thirdly, don't let fear control you. Look fear in the eyes face on and don't be afraid, and it will never have power over you again and you can achieve anything you want. I are no longer dependant on my parents and everything has fallen into place more or less. Just keep believing in yourself and never give up, and most importantly keep God close and don't be afraid to pray and ask for help. God Bless. xx

Beautiful. You speak such truth to my heart. My home was a nightmare . No child should have gone through it. I am a senior citizen now and made a true home. It is my sanctuary and I am trying to build that inner connection with my higher self, and give a peace to my 3 grandchildren who come to visit. I live on an estate and rent a horsebarn. I am finally happy and have forgiven those who did me wrong. I believe that is the mission of my life. 😊

Thank you, Rabbi. Can you give a talk that shows how to heal others in one's family, or "make things right"? I know that, in growing up as an older child, I was key in fostering a highly critical home and made my younger siblings feel badly. Besides trying to do my best as an adult to show them kindness and apologizing for the ways I picked on them, is there any measure to "make up" for these awful mistakes? One of my biggest regrets was not being the best sibling I could have been.
@maizen5267 Жыл бұрын
try to accompany them, try to listen and hear their side..bond with them, dont look at them how good u are, look at them how good they are..sometimes we need to try other ways if your ways didn't work for them..
@kimlersue Жыл бұрын
None of us can change another..BUT...we can freely offer them our love without price to them. Only G-d is perfect unconditional love..but we can try to come as close as possible to that for our families. It's like the "stone soup" story. It took one person to put one stone ( all he had ) in a kettle of water..and all the others who were hoarding food.. added the their food into the kettle. Soon there was a harmonious group all finally being fed! You can put all you have into the family kettle..then hope and pray.

Also if you internalized that you're the key to the dysfunction of the home I guess you were the family scapegoat and I am so so sorry you took on your parents failures as your own fault Reevaluate your role in your family. Did your parents have explosive anger that was unpredictable and you couldn't properly prevent even being careful of everything? Did you become a perfecrionist and try to control your siblings so they wouldn't set off your parents and blame yourself when your parents exploded because you "failed to manage" possible stressor? Sounds like trauma responses, a lot of fawning involved and codependency (if I do x, you won't do y or I have to do b to deserve c from you). Google family scapegoat psychology and read the articles. Adult children of emotionally immature parents series but especially the self care coping book helped me a lot.

This is so insightful, & I'm still looking for peace in my home. I left my husband thinking I was to find peace, which I did but that was very short lived. As I moved to retrain for work & start all over again, my new neighbours made sure I lost my peace, as it feels I live on top of a circus. My prayer time is continuously interrupted, I cannot relax anymore no more meditation, & my anxiety is through the roof as they will not let me sleep at night as well. Pity I have to take class during the day. I am trying everything to move from this hell-hole. At least I'm not being emotionally abused as when I was married. But I am not giving up on finding the peace I deserve, so I can be more spiritually effective & productive as a human being should.

I now have a better understanding of the following verse Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Now I see that my creator wants to dwell with me...and in so doing, make me more like himself. Essentially, I am to develop His divine characteristics and become, through His presence in me, another being full of love, peace, loyalty ....all the qualities that make life full, rich and satisfying.
