For those of you who are confused. At 9:02 white(Magnus)moves his king at first to D4, and this is a terrible move because it allows black to move his bishop to F2 checking the king, forcing him to move and then taking the rook on the same diagonal. So Magnus tried to correct for this by playing C4 however this was not allowed as he already played D4
@Aaron1Ayala
@Aaron1Ayala 3 жыл бұрын
Dang even tho he didn’t press the timer? It’s odd how he still went for the correction when as a pro should already know it’s not allowed and not be surprised? Idk

Why is not allowed? What does that prevent from?
@iamgroot3615
@iamgroot3615 3 жыл бұрын
@@walter4455 once you move a piece to a square and take your hand off the piece you cannot then touch it again and move it somewhere else even if you haven’t punched the clock yet. It’s just against the rules. I think the rule is there because let’s say it’s your move and you move a piece to the square but don’t touch the clock yet. Hypothetically if the rule wasn’t in place you could keep the piece there as long as you haven’t yet punched the clock. And this is obviously just something that should be avoided because it would cause confusion between both players

Because we should show people at the highest level of play by humans, that if you make one little mistakey (because you set the king down on the wrong square for less than a full second) somebody else gets to say that they defeated you... when all they did was watch you make a small error and think to themselves "he just did the thing THAT MEANS IF I RAISE MY HAND AND TELL THEM HE BROKE THE RULES... I GET TO SAY THAT I WON!!!!!!!1!!!" Let's have rules set in place so they can be abused, not to guide the game down a logical pathway.
@DogshitArgument
@DogshitArgument 6 жыл бұрын
He shook his hand because his opponent forced him to resign after seeing a simple mistake... Childish behavior will always have its rewards, but it will never be consistent, it's a shame Boris shows his true nature to everyone through this clip. He doesn't show any willingness to improve for the betterment of his play, he shows the desire to say "I'M BETTER"- by jumping on any opportunity he can abuse to win. It's funny that you can see it in his gameplay too, he plays defensive and capitalizes on mistakes. A fourteen year-old could learn to play how he does LMAO

Kind of interesting how many people here defend Magnus and actually criticize his opponent. Magnus made a mistake and his try to cover it up was breaking the rules. There’s no doubt about this and just because he initially reacted by being upset at his opponent, doesn’t mean that he had a right to be - which he must have noticed about 2 seconds later. Believe it or not, the guy is a human being just like us and he’s capable of making mistakes.

For those that still don't understand , besides a rule violation of moving a piece and letting it go than moving it again ....The first square that Magnus moved the king to was d4 and had it stayed there it loses instantly ...Black would play Bishop f2 check and when Magnus moves his king Black picks up the rook on the b6 square .If you fast forward to around 10:05 you can see it very clearly and you can see Savchenko pointing at the king that at the rook probably telling Magnus you must keep the king on d4 and I win the rook with Bishop f2

A move is complete when the player moving the piece removes his hand from the piece. In the video, Carlsen is seen moving his King from the square d3 to the square d4, placing the piece at the square d4 and taking his hand off the piece thereby completing his move. And then immediately within a fracture of a second, after realizing that that was not the right move, moved his King from d4 to c4. It is a classic case of touch-move violation.

This was a fun game. At 5:11, magnus traps his opponent’s queen. She has nowhere to go. So the only way magnus’ opponent can save his queen is if he sacrifices his knight. So after that, he’s down a piece and Magnus is in a completely winning position. Unfortunately during 9:08, Magnus realizes that him moving his king there would put him in a completely losing position since his opponent can check his king with the bishop and pick up his rook. So he tries to move his king to the correct square, but then he touches it twice and that breaks the rule. So Magnus lost but he was basically in a completely winning position and lost due to a technicality I guess. But rules are rules

Lance Belaong you clearly didn’t read the second part of my comment. Anyway what I’m implying is that the rule of letting go of your piece makes sense in classical chess, but in blitz where a huge factor is running out of time, the clock seems to be a more legitimate source to set your move. That being said, I understand why the rules are the way they are, so you can’t make a bunch of fake moves to confuse your opponent. In this case, that clearly wasn’t Carlsen’s objective, so I understand why he gets so upset when his opponent chose to make such a petty challenge just to get an easy “win”.

This wasn't a touch move issue, so the title is incorrect. Magnus didn't try to move a different piece other than the king. He let go of the king at d4, so it had to remain on d4.
@snigdhagoel7059
@snigdhagoel7059 6 жыл бұрын
Guys it's not of that sort as most of u thinking. Not a illegal move. He touched his king played kD4 Nd dropped it for a while which is blunder move as Bf2 will take White's rook for free and then black could easily progress wid a plus bishop nd win it. So carlsen suddenly saw Bf2 coming and pretend he doesn't dropped his rook at kD4 Nd moved it Kc4 opponent claimed that u dropped it on d4 becoz he was about to play bf2. So carlsen accepted he dropped and if he dropped then no point in playing as black will be easily winning wid plus bishop. So carlsen resign it on that spot. If he wanted to continue he can but he has to continue it with kd4. Nothing illegal in it. It's just he made blunder

I know how to play chess but you also have to have a good strategy to win. When I used to play chess I just moved pieces around and destroy as many opponents pieces as I could. That was in middle school so I was chess champion but my chess teacher had a plan he sacrificed his pieces and I was like okay I’ll take them and he check mated me meaning my king is trapped no place to go so I lost.
@MiniNinja258

So it isn’t about eating as many pieces what’s more important is having a good plan to trap king
