Just a point here, as our law currently states "you must have asked for asylum in any country you passed through before you get to our border." I understand they are finally amending some laws, but for decades this has been the law and it has not been enforced. They are supposed to bring documentation showing they were denied when they arrive at the border, and the reason they don't is because they never sought it under our current law. If they did seek it, many of the countries that just let them pass through on their way here would have deported them after being denied under their laws. Under Obama, Bush and Trump there was a clear message that the border was closed and don't come in the wrong way. People still did it but in an extraordinarily less amount than under biden. The message under this administration is come on in and they are taking full advantage of it. Over extending our hospitality has ripple effects on our social programs, and especially schools.
