I love it when she said people in Mtwapa are called Night Runners. Here in London whenever we came out of night clubs to take night buses home, the driver would start calling out 'Night Owl's ' same thing. I will reach Mtwapa. God bless you all.

How things change,when i lived in Mombasa many years ago (Im sure before you were born)mtwapa was a makuti village, a place I`d not have dreamt of being found, then when I visited 10 years ago, I was really surprised how Mtwapa has grown,I even rented an apartment there for 10 days and there was no regret. BTW, rents are not really going up in , my rent back in the day (mid 90s was 18K for a 2-bedroom house with an SQ)but the $ exchange rate was not yet even ksh 50 for $1

Nice video indeed. So rent in Mtwapa Luxury including service charge is Ksh 35,000 in those apartments and a one roomed house goes for Ksh 10 to Ksh 12,000....! Are the one roomed houses self contained?

Mombasa culture is generally super friendly and the swahili culture is very open so living there I have too, people aren't aware or accustomed ro the gkoominess, stresses out. Depressed lonely European culture and growing up in kenya you are not actively aware of the racism or the weight of being hated as a black person in America and other western nations so they look at life ,people and the causaciosn tourists not through the eyes of oppression or apartheid conditions for example.Yheir hearts arent in bondage so to speak. The people like every other countey have their challenges but life generally isn't gloomy in Mombasa and people are generally happy cheerful and alsonhaving summer all year round helps .

Oh, I am European living on and off in Mtwapa for About 9 years. But in Kenya coast for 12 years. I must correct one thing: Mtwapa used to be much more lively back then. Nothing is "coming up". Sorry, but no .... And people in all of Kenya and certainly also !twapa are struggling to survive.
