We love tipplers but the jet skis can be a bit of a pain and in summer it's just a bit to popular for us
@sailingwiththejamess Жыл бұрын
Tipplers was beautiful, we'd recommend it, especially the amazing playground for kids. But yes indeed there were so many jet skis, perfect distance from the Gold Coast to take a trip up to Tipplers, have a coffee and a bit to eat at the Cafe, and then a nice ride back down again. -Cait

Thank you!! ❤️ We love seeing you every week! We are doing a shake down of the boat along the East Coast and then maybe tassie for Summer or NZ - we are not sure yet. Queensland coast is so spectacular with all the reefs and islands, lots of shelter for different wind angles 💚 And we can't wait to do NSW and the Hawksbery River ⛵️🧜♂️🐋 Not sure how many boats have hit the lines, we have seen youtube videos of sailboat running into lines 😱 -Cait

The growth rate of barnacles is amazing, we are on.our way North to warmer weather and clearer water and will jump in soon. great work navigating the power lines, glad you guys made it safely. The seagrass looks super super long, did you see a difference in speed after the scrub? your channel is becoming a weekend routine for us, and we are loving learning something new each week
@sailingwiththejamess Жыл бұрын
Great to hear that you are enjoying the videos, we love that! It's lovely to see you back! We did see a difference in speed after the scrub but unfortunately we couldn't reach the underneath bottom of the boat with the brush but we can reach it with jumping in the water. We are currently heading north up the coast and as we get into warmer weather we will just in and give her a clean. With our last boat it was amazing the speeds we got after a fresh antifoul 💚 the little barnacles ans sea scum on the bottom hinders speed a lot! -Cait

@@sailingwiththejamess The Al hull may inhibit some of the fouling... a underwater rotary scrubber will help keep your hull clean ... But if you want to keep the wildlife out of your ears wear ear plugs or hood.. Extracting small crustaceans from ones ears is quite a thing for cruisers ... That or if your hull allows it beach the boat on a tide and do it on the dry.
@sailingwiththejamess Жыл бұрын
@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 she was last antifouled 18 months ago and we are thinking the water blasting at haul out must have done something to the remaining antifoul. Since we are Scrubbing the Hull and rubbing the antifoul we were thinking of beaching her at some point. We have skegs and can beach her and we were thinking about the Lagoon at Middle Percy Island possible as we know the area and its pure hard sand in the lagoon. Great video James family! Nice work on the Lazy Jacks, they are looking good! Where do you think you'll haul out if you need to antifoul?
@sailingwiththejamess Жыл бұрын
The lazy Jacks are doing so well, less windage. We are thinking Mackay Marina Shipyarf, we have been there before in our Mono and they were fabulous and we had a really good experience. We have heard really good things about Bundaberg, and Gladstone as well. We are making our way North up the coast and will be jumping in the water soon when the waters a bit clearer and giving her hull and clean -Cait

@@sailingwiththejamess I've heard positive feedback from Mackay. You might not fit into the Bundaberg slipway, you would need to call about your width

@@sailingwiththejamess Perhaps you could do an honest video on the real costs of sailing? That would be helpful! Do you have a common ground or isolated ground?
@sailingwiththejamess Жыл бұрын
@Steve Steel that's a very good question. We have isolated ground What kind of catamaran are you looking at? Terrifying experience. I am confident with the area as used to live on Russell and Macleay for 7 years. Never sail big boat here but seen people sailing around. There are power lines goes from Cabbadge three point crossing channel and entering Russell island from South West. Do you think that one better to go under? However I think the channel passing Russell on it's south is too shallow even on high tide.
@sailingwiththejamess Жыл бұрын
We have been under both, the one from Cabbage tree is a nicer for boats with deeper drafts and you can hug the west side next to the pillion where it's plenty deep and pass with plenty of clearance. We loved the narrows, jealous you were able to live there, would be beautiful. We saw lots of people out at night having bbqs and camp fires in their backyards with neighbours. Very relaxing and calming atmosphere 💜 Lovely to see new faces around our channel, we hope you are enjoying the videos and hope to see you again next week 💜🩷 -Cait
