Wow - Amok Time Toys! They're based here on Long Island. The owner, Paul, was a friend of a friend of mine from way back. It's always fun shopping in their store, which started with quite a lot of retail space before they scaled back a bit to accommodate the online retail side of their business. I didn't know about this Galactica merch, but it doesn't surprise me that they did a great job with the license.

Wow! What an awesome display. The prototype Athena is a beautiful sculpt. I’d love it if Amok Time would try to launch a 3.75 line of original Battle Star Galactica toys. Maybe they could work with Super 7 since they like to pick-up/collaborate on more obscure licenses (the reason they have $20 figures at 3.75 inch scale and 5 points of articulation). I’d be happy to shell out for original Galactica series figures: Adama, Apollo, Starbuck, Tigh, Boomer, Jolly, Athena, Cassiopeia, Sheba, Serina, Boxey and Muffet, Rigel, Omega, Dr. Salik, Dr. Wilker, Baltar, Lucifer, Cylon Centurion, Cylon Commander, Cylon Imperious Leader, and Commander Cain. I Wouldn’t mind seeing Super 7 Buck Rogers in the 25th Century figures either.
@battlestarcollectica7106Ай бұрын
Super7 seems to only be interested in Ultimates right now. They are really neglecting ReAction!
@spacemanspiff3052Ай бұрын
@@battlestarcollectica7106 Yes, it’s true. They say they aren’t going to move away from ReAction, and they are still putting out some smaller/nitch demand ReAction product (musicians, The Worst, Sesame Street, Richard Scarry, and Willy Wonka) but it does seem the primary effort is the extremely higher price point Ultimates. When GI Joe ReAction+ O-rings come out, I wonder how long 5 POA ReAction figures will last, indeed.

I can't tell you how many stories I've head about prototypes and props ending up in dumpsters. Only to see those props resurface. I wonder just how many people in the 'know' make those stories up. Or lie on purpose to satisfy something or other.

True. No one throws out prototypes. It is a good way to hide that you've stolen something that never got produced, though. In retail corporate insists that damaged goods be thrown out, but the truth is managers just take it home for free...and then it gets revealed it was never damaged, just Reported as "damaged"...same thing.

@@battlestarcollectica7106today yes for 3D prints but you could easily have scratch built one out of styrene sheets and rods 20-30-40 years ago. I think it was bad marketing on Mobuis models part. They shouldn’t have called them pre finished models. When I think of a model. I think fragile. They should have gone the way of Diamond select/Art asylum. Maybe added some die cast like Eaglemoss. Mobuis should have added some strength and weight to the kits. Those stands should be stonger. The Select Star Trek stands were horrible. I bought some custom ones on eBay. Sorry it wouldn’t let me reply to your comment.
