For the first time travelers to Seoul I think Jongno is definitely the place to stay at(not just Jongno but the neighborhoods inside the old city walls). All public transit goes through that area and it's got the most culture. Also, since the neighborhood was built when there was only on foot traffic it's great for pedestrians.

What hotel(s) do you recommend in Jongno ?
@amsd123111 ай бұрын
@@yoru6grad That's a tough question as I have never had to stay at a hotel in Seoul so I can't really recommend a specific hotel. I suggest looking into hotels near Jongno 3 ga stn. and Euljiro 3 ga stn. Those two metro stations are close by and they cover 4 different lines. They are also close to Cheonggye stream and Jongmyo Shrine.

This is perfect. I’ll pass this video on to my wife for next summer. I’ve been to a couple of these neighbourhoods years ago - oh how they’ve changed! Itaewon especially. Back in the 90’s it was a bit run down. Close to the American Army base with great food, but dumpy with a lot of nighttime “establishments” It looks really nice now! Can’t wait to check out some of the old stomping grounds!

It's my second time and I have a limited grasp of Korean. I have some friends that will come for their own shorter trips, so I think being close to the tourist attractions will be good. I need to be working/studying for parts of the day, so I am looking to find a goshiwon. I could make other arrangements if that doesn't work out. I want to do some hiking, so your recent videos have been especially great for me. I want to do at least the Hanyangdoseong as you did and I'm thinking of giving the Seoul Dulle Gil a shot. I'll see what I have time for because I would also want to check out more cities for a few days. The other areas I looked at were Seongsu, Noryangjin, and the Jongno/Euljiro rectangle (if that makes sense). You ever meet up with people? I'd be down to grab you guys a meal. As for me, I'm partial to Jamsil, but that's because it has always been my "home neighborhood" - while I may not have been around when it was just a floodplain for raising silkworms (hence the name Jamsil - "Silk Room"), I was around when it was just starting to get built up and got the Olympic facilities.
@lostthenfound Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot @AllyMcLesbian! Jamsil is a great neighbourhood for sure! I didn't know that it used to be a floodplain for raising silkworms either (hence the name). That's interesting, thanks for sharing that!

Your content is excellent. Have you thought about adding Korean subtitles? This could help grow your channel, making it accessible to a greater audience plus allow other local Koreans to comment and share their information. As a fellow Canadian who will be travelling to S. Korea in the near future, (I hope), It would be wonderful to have a few more detailed info videos like what to try at a street market and how to get a pass and ride the transit system or how to order delivery without speaking Korean. Etiquette when entering a shop or restaurant. Drinking etiquette. These requests may be premature as I have not yet watched all your vlogs, (I'm working on it) and you may have already covered them. Consider collaborating with some Korean food tour companies where you film the tour and get more viewers for your channel and advertise for them. I would love to see your channel grow. It is an excellent change from the over-the-top sensationalized vlogs that are so irritating and are far too prevalent. Keep up the great work.

Thanks so much @daynhoy9600! Appreciate the praise and kind words! We used to put Korean subs in all of our videos, but we got almost no Korean views outside of our family! Haha. Will definitely consider doing it again in the future though! I wrote down your ideas as potential topics for the future too. We didn't cover those topics in the past either, as we mostly just made the videos we wanted to make for fun. We are just starting to make videos that are more useful for other people now (while mixing in ideas that are just for fun too), and take it more seriously to achieve our dream of making this our career. Will definitely be trying to do some collabs/advertising in the future too! Thanks again and take care!

I booked for Hongdae as my friend advised, but now (as a mom) I’m rethinking it, but none of the others really fit my vibe. I don’t think we’ll be going out at night beyond to and from the station so I guess it doesn’t matter lol It’s my first time to Korea and my first time staying in a tourist area on any of my travels 😂 maybe that’s why I’m worried about it. I would normally stay somewhere like Bucheon and just travel to the tourist stuff for five minutes for photos and back out to my comfort zone.
@lostthenfound8 ай бұрын
Hey @UdatsuAdventures, if you want a neighbourhood that's not touristy at all, I'd consider staying at an area like Mapo (business district), Ichon (residential), or Banpo (residential). They are all in really central locations in Seoul, but they are quite low in tourist population. I'd avoid staying in a place like Bucheon unless you want to stay in that area for most of the trip. The subway from Bucheon to Seoul can be a hassle to deal with because it comes every 12-20 minutes or so instead of every 3-5 minutes.
@EnzoSalazarBoy77 ай бұрын
I actually regret not staying in touristy area for our first time. The language barrier can be a bit of a challenge, we found that when we were in more touristy areas, most Koreans expect lots of foreigners already, so the environment felt more accommodating which help us get acclimated to the area faster. For example dining in, most of the wait staff in touristy areas are trained to be patient and educate foreigner who haven’t tried certain food experiences before. In contrast, attempted to dine in at a BHG chicken restaurant outside of Myeongdong area and waitress was super rude, would flash her phone with Papago app on our face real quick I couldn’t even read what she was trying to tell me. But could sense she wouldn’t let us dine, so we just left.
@lostthenfound7 ай бұрын
@@EnzoSalazarBoy7 this is very valuable information. Thanks for sharing it! The restaurants in the tourist areas are very used to accommodating people who don't speak Korean like you said. When I first came here, I found that I would have to prepare everything in advance before entering a restaurant outside the tourist areas just to make it go by smoothly.

I lived in Sangsu but for everyone who came from anywhere it was just easy to say Hong dae. Technically it was 5 minutes walking distance up the hill to the university. Prior to that I lived for 2 years in Hwagok dong. Hong dae was the best, this was before the train to airport was built but 2 minutes used to be airport airport bus.. it was second to last stop before hopping on the expressway to airport. For this reason I lived near a lot of airline crew lived. Problem with Korea is that from year to year business change a lot.

Some of hotels are boring just walking out finding big avenues. I use agoda and Tripadvisor but i feel like i might not get all the listings. . My Hotel range should be in the $120 usa or less. Any advice is appreciated

Thanks so much @filmdreams! If I were you I'd try and find a place close to Jongno 3-ga station. There are some really cool alleyways around there, and you will still be close to everything else around the area within walking distance.

Do you have any recommendations for staying at Air-B-B’s? Traveling to SK and looking to stay within walking distance of Han River, but able to get to museums, restaurants/cafes, palaces, etc. don’t want to stay in a noisy nightlife area.
@lostthenfound11 ай бұрын
For Air Bnb's near the Han River I'd recommend trying to find one near Ichon Station, which is right next to the Han River and the National Museum of Korea (this will take you more than one day to see it all as it's huge). It's a very quiet area that's still quite accessible to Northern Seoul just by taking the subway line #4 up a few stops to Seoul Station, and then you can transfer to pretty much anywhere from there.

Hey @cristyreasons1581 Jung-gu is also perfect! Tips from a Seoulite 1. A climate card, an unlimited pass for public transportation is now available for short term tourists. It can be used in most of the public transportation in Seoul. 2. Some street foods at Myeongdong and traditional markets can be quite expensive, considering convenience. In some cases, foods sold in the store may be better. 3. Yeouido, Manhattan of Seoul, is famous for high-rise buildings, the biggest department store in Seoul(The Hyundai Seoul), Hangang River Park, and Luxurious Hotels(Conrad Seoul, Fairmont Seoul). It takes less than 20 mintues from here to both Central Seoul and Gangnam by Subway.
