Well we know he was a necromancer. He used it to reanimate the Quilln (not sure if I spelled that right) in the latest movie. I think he was getting to powerful and gaining to much influence at the school and may have been about to take it over. The move to expell him was probably self preservation on part of the staff.

Tom Riddle was also the best student at Hogwarts after Dumbledore, and Grindelwald mirrors him as well, the overt rule-breaker as opposed to Riddle's subtlety and perfect outward appearance. Voldemort also believed in legends (of the Founders Four, which is why he sought their heirlooms as trophies as he was Slytherin's last male Gaunt descendant), yet discounted the ordinary. Grindelwald shared this wizarding elitism and "purity" against Muggles. Grindelwald wanted the Hallows. Riddle created Horcruxes. Grindelwald, with a whole soul, would have been more than a match for Voldemort.
@dustingaethje13322 жыл бұрын
I don't know about that. Voldemort would probably still win. Their skills should be more or less even, but Voldemort does not need to eat, drink, sleep and he doesn't get tired, so eventually, he would probably win.

@ChristinaHerbert4457 ай бұрын
Same! Everyone keeps comparing him to Hannibal! I’ve heard so many people call him « Wizard Hannibal ». The whole point is for them to be 2 different people! If he is just « Wizard Hannibal » then the character hasn’t developed much. JD presented a whole new person! I didn’t see any of his other characters when looking at Grindelwald. That’s the point of acting! Plus, there are so many who say he can’t play villains! They forgot he was nominated for an OSCAR for playing a villain!

I honestly believe that Grindelwald was better than Dumbledore all around. I truly believe that the only reason he lost the duel was because he was using the Elder Wand which has a long and notorious history of betraying its wielder. Had Harry chosen to keep it instead of repairing his holly wand, eventually he'd have suffered the same fate in his career as an auror. We're it not for the Elder Wand, Grindelwald would have been the victor.
@damnstupidoldidiot87762 жыл бұрын
The Elder does not betray its owner, when does it do that?
@dustingaethje13322 жыл бұрын
The Elder Wand jumps to the greater wizard, it doesn't just arbitrarely betray it's owner for no reason mate. The reason why it did that with Harry and Voldemort is 100% plot armor, but it can be explained away by Harry having both of the other Deathly Hallows as well as the wand seeing that he survived the killing curse (which would make him the most powerful wizard of all time without additional context) on top of having disarmed Draco before (so the presedant for the betrayal was already set there as well). It would not have betrayed Grindelwald for no reason just because "oh it's a dual, better betray muh owner durrr." Also, it's pretty much cannon that Dumbledore is the greatest wizard of his time. There is no disputing that based on evidence. He came out the victor from both the dual against Grindewald and Voldemort (in which he was using the elder wand btw, so why didn't it betray him for Voldemort if it just does that, huh).
@madhattermaker6224 ай бұрын
Not entirely agreeing with this but yeah that's 100% why I'd never have the Elder wand if I was in Harry Potter and was given the choice. It's powerful but I wouldn't trust myself with it, let alone I don't think the wand would trust me either so I think that it's for the best.
@patrickdematosribeiro18452 жыл бұрын
To me Dumbledore's quote suggest he didn't read the wrong book or make experiments with animals, but did something awful to another student who went in some way against him, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Dumbledore relating Grindelwald being expelled to using more force than necessary when being opposed. Also do we know for a fact a students wand is destroyed when he is expelled from Durmstrang? Rules might be different from Hogwarts.

Great job. Impressive research. So because He desired to learn all he could makes him more powerful than Valddy is so true for knowledge brings power when used wisely. Sadly neither used what knowledge they had wisely, which was the ultimate of their undoing. What was it Olevander said "After all, He Who Must Not Be Named did great things - terrible, yes, but great.” they did terrible great things but had they chose the good, they would have gone further and longer, going down as the greatest wizards in the magical world's History. GOT A QUESTION ON THAT NOTE: Does "the boy who lived" go down as the one who brings the end to Voldermort when it was His mother but he ultimately brings him down or will it be a collective effort with Griffindor's whole house given it will be at the Battle of Hogwarts of all in Rowling's magical world's history and will that be in the magical world History books of Albus Potter's history books at Hogworts while he is school or will it be later?

I think Voldemort found Grindelwald as an old man proves he had a Horcrux. His crime warranted the dementors kiss. Yet he lives. Why? Because the dementors simply couldn’t drain his elite soul as part of it was safely hidden. I am also fascinated by how friendly Grindelwald was when Voldemort visited him about the wand. He called him Tom! He was sort of expecting him. Why? Because of an existing relationship. What kind of relationship might that be? How about as an apprentice.

Have you watched reviews of The Secrets of Dumbledore where the reviewer blames Albus for GG's ideas to destroy muggles because GG said Albus gave him the idea during their tea? I find reviews by people who dump all over the movie and have never read any of the books and even some seemingly so ignorant they don't sound like they ever watched the Harry Potter movies as well. Yet they will call this last movie bad while making assertions that contradict the previous 8 Potter movies. As admittedly Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald was discontinuous and was off kilter, but JK wrote a movie like a book and having Steve Kloves onboard for Secrets made it considerably better and probably saved it. Makes me wonder what the 2nd movie would have been like if JK had used him for that one too. I read where JK already had Secrets' script already before Crimes was released, but the studio read the script and said no and brought in Steve Kloves who adapted the Harry Potter books for film. Guess they didn't want to see anymore "Death of a Franchise" reviews like Crimes received. I'm also seeing reports that there won't be a 4th or 5th movie, but they might adapt them into an HBO series. Is this True? This is disturbing as I don't watch cable tv including HBO. I've never watched GOT, nor Disney's trashing of Star Wars except for The Mandalorian a friend recorded.
