He could have married Merope just as an easy way to gain power by entering a pureblood family since in that time its unlikely a muggleborn would get to a high position no matter the talent or ambition and as such chances of marrying into a more prestigious pure blood family would have been harder.

Scenario B: If Tom was raised by both his parents, but Merope stops giving Tom Sr. the love potion but Tom Sr. still decides to stay (like you did here). Scenario C: Similar to the original timeline if, after Merope stops giving Tom Sr. the love potion and Tom Sr. abandons her, but she survives and raises Tom by herself. But it was still a good video (as usual). Great job! 😃

I really enjoyed this. I like how this really follows Riddle's overall character. Seriously, even if Tom was simply adopted by a magical family, things would have turned out VERY differently. It was the abandonment and the shunning that turned him into Voldemort. Even the Dursley family would have been better than that orphanage. By the time Dumbledore found Riddle, the damage was done and Voldemort had already been born. That deep-seated hatred of Muggles combined with the ego that comes to those that are naturally gifted had already taken root. And I do agree that Tom Gaunt would have gone for political means to change the system and take power. He would have researched what others had done and learned from their mistakes. Rather than rely on fear and power to control others, he would have applied cunning and manipulation to edge his way up the ladder and finally seize power. Rather than be the loner that Voldemort was, Gaunt would have not only surrounded himself with loyal followers, but would have utilized their own power and ability to best advantage. Gaunt would have been one to orchestrate events to maneuver his lieutenants into positions of power, and they would in turn lift him higher. In the end, in this alternate timeline, the Second Wizarding War would have been one of political machinations, ending in a world much as we see during Book 7 ... "Blood Certifications" to prove Pureblood status, with Halfbloods being a second-class citizen. Muggle-born would be outcasts and would be shunned by the majority of the Wizarding World. The only thing that I see happening differently is that it isn't a coup .... it would be a slow turn of policy and belief from within the Ministry. Those that spoke against it would be ridiculed and demonized, and would eventually be labelled as "Dangers to Society" and find themselves in Azkaban. And all of it would likely, again, be followed by those immortal words ... "For the Greater Good..."

Honestly I don't think Tom would be in anyway merciful towards muggles even if he was raised by his father. Seeing the way his powerless muggle dad would treat, who should be an even more powerful wizard mother by tolerating her in his home and giving her zero attention would probably lead to disrespect down the line, and possibly domestic abuse. He'd purely keep her around to help shape Tom Jr. into his idea of a perfect son. He'd probably have zero remorse in hurting Merope by bedding other women. Tom's wizardry superiority complex would probably still be elevated by the presence of his muggle father asserting power over both him and his mother, shaping his disdain for all muggles. Unless by some miracle Tom was adopted by a loving family, say the Adams Family (not that, that would do much difference), there's probably no escaping his curse to become Voldemort.

Firstly, what Ishmam said in the comments. Secondly, I don't think he'd act in that way to her. I think it would be *far* more negligence and ambivalance, than violence and rage. If Tom had felt negatively about his dad, it would be because of him being void of true love towards that magical side of his family and his own mother, and he'd resent how he only cared for her being there for the sake of Tom. Normally some master manipulation seems like the ideal for Tom, but because it's his own mother who is trying to care for him and for whom he pitties, he would become quite bitter towards his father not caring for her in that way. I think the key difference here is how big of an effect the specific teachers and mentors are, otherwise in his life. If they were warm and caring towards him, and helped guide him in good ways, he'd have somebody to actually strongly look up to, and to help guide him morally. If not, then I think it would be much more in line with how the video ends up. Simply to the effect of muggles in general, I think he wouldn't be actively against them if it was the worst outcome, he would just disregard them and focus on who and what mattered to him, which was magic.

I like how you made sure to not accidentally reinvent Tom into another character and instead make it believable by toeing the line but taking into account the changes. Even with parents Tom would not suddenly be a complete antithesis of Voldemort but he would be different. He'd be more human, more approachable and most importantly be more familiar with the one thing that completely alluded him in canon i.e. love. Would Tom be a good person, absolutely not but he wouldn't be the totally evil monster Voldemort was and I feel would have far more redeeming qualities. A morally grey character perhaps.

Mina PH the Dark Mark summons wizards to his presence, causing them intense burning pain until they get their butts in gear. You don’t need to summon yourself to your own physical presence since you are your own self. That’s the logic I’d go with for Voldemort’s lack of a mark practically speaking. I’ll also add the caveat that it’s likely a control thing on Voldemort’s part... hence why his followers that are branded with the mark feel pain for each moment that they do not immediately answer his call for their presence.

Didn't Rowling already state that love potion doesn't have that effect on a child? Maybe it all was just a shitty life for Voldemort. Growing up in abusive orphanage, because look up orphanages of his time they were always awful, in times of two wars and poverty, another tremendously sad shit, then goes to Hogwarts thinking it's his heaven only to be sorted into Slytherin without surname so they probably thought him muggleborn and made his first years there a hell until by good old violence he proved them otherwise probably discovering that he was above avarage in power which fueled his arrogance furthermore, since the very beginning. And Dumbledore sadly treated him badly as well not trusting and alienating him from the beginning, putting him short in the "dark wizardzz" box. He always had to fight for his ends and ever since he was a child learned that being mean gets you things. There was no one to teach him better. And all he ever got from muggles was shitty treatment and bombarding and war and malnutrition and then got to Hogwarts where at least some of it was better and life was easier and he probably loved magic as much as Harry and loved Hogwarts as much as Snape did because it was home. And he was brilliant a smart boy as well as a good student maybe if Dumbledore wasn't hardened by Grindelwald situation he would've grown fond of the boy and lead him away from the darkness showing him that it's not the only way. Who knows what good a genius like him could've done if only he were given a kind hand for once in his life. Or was allowed to stay at Hogwarts over summer because why did teachers send a child back to the war zone when they could just fucking let him stay in a safe place. What's wrong with them, then? Only real thing I know was that when I was thirteen and finished the books I always thought that my great, wonderful, kind Harry would find a pity for the boy who made all the wrong choices because Harry would be the only one who could understand him, because Harry saw his childhood in pensieve and probably could relate to it, because Harry was the chosen one so he surely would find such magnificent empathy and try to save his enemy not only destroy him like Dumbledore ever did. Harry was The Chosen One so he surely would be that good, that angel-like to find it in his heart to forgive and save someone who everyone else thought unsalvagable. That's why he is the chosen one isn't he? But it didn't happen it never will and my young heart just broke a little then and I remember to this day that for me the light didn't truly won there. Because Harry just merely accepted Dumbledore words that he cannot help Voldemorts soul anymore and it was truly devastating for me because I thought that the soul even of someone evil like Voldemort could be redeemed by someone as good as Harry Potter in the world of magic where everything is possible. Thanks to everyone who read this and gave it a thought.

Because he was conceieved with a love potion and not real love, he will still be born with a disability of not having any emotional attachment. He'd most likely despise his father for being non-magic and his mother for lowering herself to marry a muggle, even if it wasn't entirely her fault, he'd still feel that she could've tried to make some effort to become a better witch. I believe this would be the case with his mother because in the original story, whilst Tom was born in an orphanage and had no parents, he still did everything he could to build himself from the moment he arrived at the school. He never looked back and pushed forward to get far, so it would be very likely he'd despise his mother for not attempting to do the same thing and I can defiantly see him purposely anger his father since he sees him as nothing but a useless muggle. When Tom starts making the horcruxes, I'd imagine he'd kill his father in doing so and make it out like he died in an accident or was murdered by an unknown wizard, leaving his mother heartbroken and possible realising what monster she's created, but unable to do anything about it. When Tom graduates from school, he'll leave his mother for good and go on with his mission for pure blood wizards, changing his name as you've mentioned in your video. The reason why i'd imagine Tom would still make horcruxes is not only because he fears death, but the fact that he doesn't care much for love and knows he's the last of the Slytherine blood-line, therefore feels keeping himself immortal will keep the Slytherine bloodline alive.

@Alex Wesker Watching theories of how he could never love anyone and had no compassion, ability to kill and the need for only power never seeing there is good and evil, as he stated in the first book, he said there is no good or evil, just power. He never showed anyone compassion or love. Being born under a love lotion would bring forth a being incapable of love with the only feeling he could ever feel is power and control. Like sociopaths, serial killers etc. It's like they don't have a soul, they are highly intelligent incapable of feeling emotions, esp empathy, sympathy and love. Not all psychopaths kill. 99% don’t. He still is one because he was conceived under a love potion. I don’t think he wouldn’t kill because of moral or emotional hesitation. Killing anyone personally, dad or otherwise, would ruin all his plans. But I like this, especially his dad having psychopathic tendencies himself. I can imagine a world where Tom Riddle Sr. sticks around Merope because she is pregnant with his child and possibly because his family wouldn’t allow him back after he eloped with her. His family wouldn’t have believed in magic, so they likely wouldn’t believe his story about a love potion. Though we can definitely assume from Riddle Senior’s characterization in canon that he would likely resent Merope for her ugliness, stupidity, and for ruining his relationship with his family. I can imagine that Riddle Senior might take more kindly to Tom, because Tom looked like him and maybe would’ve been the best of a bad situation. Riddle Senior would raise Tom strictly but slightly affectionately, all while treating Merope coldly or ignoring her presence. This would dramatically skew Tom’s perception of love as a child, and we can assume that his ego would be fed by Riddle Senior’s wealth and status, as well as Merope’s stories of the Gaunt Family’s status in the Wizarding World. Young Tom would grow arrogant but calculating. We can assume that he’d pick up on his father’s use of Merope as a tool and emulate it himself, as Tom would be more likely to look up to his wealthy and handsome dad than his ugly and desperate mom. Riddle Senior would likely be disappointed that Tom is magical and might grow colder towards Tom, which would likely make Tom angry and determined to prove himself. And there we have Tom Riddle Jr., sorted into Slytherin when he goes to Hogwarts. He would use his Gaunt heritage to his advantage and likely wouldn’t look down upon anyone for their blood status, as he was raised by and admired a Muggle. Tom would likely instead view others as primarily tools, and would use anyone for his own ambitions. Perhaps his new upbringing would allow him to genuinely care for some people, but we can assume it wouldn’t be enough to overpower his ruthless ambition. So we either end up with Lord Voldemort once again, or Minister Riddle of Britain.

I don’t think Tom would care about blood purity if he was raised by both his parents. Having a loving Muggle father would surely help him understand that Muggles don’t deserve to be hated. However, I do agree that he would still be very ambitious. I also agree that he would do some questionable things, but I don’t think he would be a bad person. He would probably tell someone about the Chamber of Secrets, or at the very least, he would make sure that the Basilisk would never be able to hurt anyone ever again.
