The Brooks Glycerin was what I started with a few years back but now I prefer a lower drop. Plus the toe box seems narrower than it was a few years ago though I haven’t tried on the last couple iterations.

What is your daily trainer of choice with a lower drop? It is quite possible Brooks has narrowed the toe box through the years, although they seem to fit my fairly narrow feet with room to spare.

I am a big fan of both brands, but i chose the Glycerin 21 for the new foam and lightweight cushion/ responsiveness balance. I have not tried the nimbus 26, but i am super happy with the Glycerin 21's. Any time, any distance, any pace

Uff, difficult question. I tried both. I guess I would lean a bit more towards Glycerin 21. The upper is less plush and more breathable and there is also a different upper version that is even more breathable. People needing some light stability/guidence can also get Glycerin GTS 21.

I believe I’d go Gel Nimbus for the heel collar and the drop. They sound fairly evenly matched.
@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ 7 ай бұрын
This sure is a fair fight! The heel collar on the Nimbus looks a little more "premium" than the Glycerin, but they feel the same when the shoes are on your feet!

I had the glycerin 20 gts and too firm and not enough forefoot flexibility. I’ve long loved the nimbus, but with an injury I can’t to do the 8mm drop right now so the Kayano 30 it is, wave Ryder 27 to walk.
@its_Matt_B_
@its_Matt_B_ 7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I get it about the lack of flexibility! What kind of injury do you have? The Kayano really is a great shoe and I find the level of stability refreshing. A new Kayano should be dropping soon!

@@Echom4-kr5el I suffer the same issues and have for years - have tried orthotics in so many shoes and still get severe pain inside my shin. Last week I opted to try a stability shoe rather than orthotics to see if that’s any better and chose the Brooks Glycerin GTs 21 - but was tossing up between them or kayano … do you feel the kayano 30s are better for Post tib????
@Echom4-kr5el
@Echom4-kr5el 7 ай бұрын
@@laurenyoung2070 the kayano 30 with my orthotics is the only shoe I can run in. The forefoot rocker helps relieve it a lot as it takes pressure off the ankle. I also have to watch my gait as I was crossing mid line and on the post lateral heel, but too much so, which was contributing to the issue. I find that using a 12 mm drop shoe as my daily shoe helps a lot (I use the brooks ghost or mizuno wave Ryder). My plan is to slowly introduce lower drop when I can, but it may always be a stability shoe to run in.
@Echom4-kr5el
@Echom4-kr5el 7 ай бұрын
@@laurenyoung2070 I will also add that all standard pt exercises flared the injury. The only two I can do is calf raises with a tennis ball between my ankles and single leg calf raises with a bent knee. Sometimes I’ll do single leg balance also. I also release it myself with massage and pressure - which I found on KZbin. I did shockwave and acupuncture with electricity, not sure the exact name) which helped a lot. Do what works for you!

someone down below mentioned that the gel-nimbus was a little narrower than the old version, which is what I'm researching. I stocked up on the gel-nimbus 21 as the style changed and the newer design is smaller and just a little too tight. So I'm having to look now. Would the Glycerine have just that slight extra room in it over the nimbus? Or can you talk about another very similar shoe that has just that slight extra room. I'm a big guy, wear size 13. The old nimbus was perfect. Thanks.

It seems the Glycerin 21 has a slightly wider toe box than the Nimbus 26. I also think you should consider the Saucony Triumph 22. My review hasn't dropped yet, but the volume in the upper of the Triumph 22 is more than in both the Nimbus 26 and Glycerin 21

I have another video comparing the Glycerin with the Ghost and conclude the Ghost (with the 12mm drop) is the better value. You could also consider the Mizuno Wave Rider 28 (12mm drop). As far as your PF goes, I found success sleeping with a boot on to keep my foot in dorsiflexion. I was always able to get out of bed without pain if I wore the boot.

How about sending us some of that Florida heat?? It's still well below freezing at dawn on many days..hoping my races this weekend will be t-shirt & shorts even if it's raining..oh yah,the shoes..besides being hot and heavy they are especially fun when they are completely soaked with rain and sweat..I must be a terrible sissy about my shoes cos I really can't use any of those kind of shoes..it doesn't matter what the brand is or what the price is..always a joy to poke at bricks..😂..that what happens when you get old..we all get there..OH..thats right many of my peers never got here..good job Matty B..😊😊
