Ranking 9 Moc Toe Boots from Worst to Best

I mostly wear 8-inch moc-toe boots for actual work as an electrical engineer. Depending on the environment on a given day, I have need for either wedge sole and lug sole boots, so I have moc-toe boots in both styles. My top choice for a moc-toe boot would be Nicks with a veg-tanned midsole, and either a Vibram V100 sole or V700 sole. I have a pair of both. My favorite wedge is once again the Nicks, which are very comfortable. once broken in. I also like the Red Wing 877s. Another favorite is the White’s Springdale, which is a plain toe boot that comes in double stuffed, veg-tanned leather.

I own three pair of moc-toes: Thorogood 8" safety toe, Whites Perry Select, and Grant Stone Ottawa. Hard to compare them as they really are such different boots. I like them all. I just like a good moc-toe. The best moc-toe is the *next* moc-toe. 😉

Hmm. Methodology is a bit flawed. Since high cost boots are bought less frequently than affordable boots, you will get more responses from the affordable groups. Your battle results is more like a survey of what people have bought and not “the best” moc toe

I have the Grant Stone Brass in #8 (oxblood), it's a great boot! I'll probably get a pair of Red Wing Mocs some day too, but for now the Brass is my go-to boot

Second on the socks. I'm an underground pipeline technician, and the socks have worked like a dream. No more sweat when I take off my boots at the end of the day. On shorter 8 hour shifts, I can wear them for 2 shifts without an issue. I've also worn them for 18-24hr shifts and my feet are still fine.

I have the GS brass boot, they are big and bulky, but I still love them. If you guys want a moc-toe look but without the clown boot vibe, I RECOMEND the GS Ottawa boot, same look but lower volume. I have 14 pairs of GS and the storm kudu Ottawa is by far my favorite. Made in China does not make them crap, they are better made than US counter parts at twice the price, by far best bang for the buck. This vid had my head spinning, the fx are a little too much, and stop yelling, I'm listening, slow down, Red Wing and Thursday are the Burger king and Mcdonalds of the boot world, mass produced , I have both and were a complete waste of money, spend a little more and get GS.

Never had a pair of the Brass Boots. That being said? I love my 1907s and I had a pair of 875s that I also absolutely loved. I had to give my 875s to my dad because they were too small for me. But if I had to choose my favorite Moc Toe Boot? It would be the 875s. If I had to choose the best Moc Toe Boot I've ever owned though? It would honestly be my White's Fulton Boots. It has a leather insole but, the boot is made to be sized for an insert and comes with a nice footbed as well. The distressed brown leather is great for work and the boot holds up extremely well on the job site for me. But the main reasons that this would be the best Moc Toe IMO (that I own anyways), 1. The comfort. This boot fits my foot much better than any other Moc Toe that I've ever owned. I have a wide foot at the ball. This boot is on the big side for the size it's listed at and has is wide around the ball of the foot. 2. It comes stock with a Vibram Honey Lug Sole. The Honey Lug for me is probably my favorite sole. It's comfortable under foot, has amazing grip, and it has worn really well. Looks wise though? It's alway going to be the 875 for me.

Rose Anvil cut the grant stone field boot in half. It revealed that the extra leather on the front is not a second piece. It’s for looks not for extra protection.

I owned many pairs of moc toe boots in different colors/leathers over the 30+ years of my blue collar career. My "everyday" work boot (8+ hours standing/crouching/kneeling/twisting/climbing on concrete, blacktop, dirt uneven surfaces) is the 6" Thorogood in Black. I build up Thorogood with green Spenco flat neoprene insoles under the included insoles for maximum cusion and a very tight fit... they are super durable and comfy af. My "ride or die" moc toe is the Redwing in Olive Mojave Roughout, these things are not as comfy... but when I'm on my motorcycle (H-D FLSTSCI) the added durability of the roughout leather/leather insole provides the rigidity and protection necessary for harsh outdoor conditions. Wedge soles are far superior in my opinion due to the fact that they dont pick up and track as much mud/dirt/debris when going from outdoor to indoor environments. Obviously the viewers of this channel aren't the skinny jean/slim fit suit wearing soy boy office workers who prefer foreign made weirdo fashion statement outfits... seems more like your audience is good old fashioned American made uniform types. Great video and accurate review.

I ain't he, but I own the Perry Selects. I also own the GS Ottawa boot and some 8" Thorogood moc-toes, so I have some points of reference. They are great. I got them in British Tan. I think I would get the more traditional orange-ish color if I could do it again. But that's not a complaint about the boots. They are solid, comfortable, and the break-in was really pretty easy. Easier than my GS boots. They didn't come with kilties, which annoys me about any boot that doesn't include them. My pair had a couple of loose stitches on the vamp of the left boot. Fixed with a lighter in two seconds, but... I shouldn't have to. If I have a complaint, it would be the welt-on-a-roll welt martial and the stitching density (or lack thereof). But not really. I mean, that's 'pea under the mattress' level of nit-pickery.

It is strange that the perry select is not there as it is definitely a better boot than the ordinary perry, but I don't think that it would beat everything on the list. Grant Stone and Nick's ar still much better boots than the select.

Of all the boots I own (less than a dozen pairs, I ain't rich), the GS are hands down the highest quality. That includes Red Wings and Whites (the two other really 'nice' boots I own). I have the Ottawa, but the Brass boot is definitely calling to me.

I guess I am in the minority of voters here. I would go higher for the Danner. I have owned 2 pairs of the Bull Run's and they have held out and worn very well. I got almost 4 yrs out of the sole before I had to resole them. The leather looks fine and I take good care of them. I tried 2 pairs of Thorogood's and returned them both cause of flaws in the boots. Plus their sizing is wonky. And, everyone goes crazy of Red Wings Moc Toes. I would rather have the Whites Perry Select leather from Seidel Leather from Milwaukee then Red Wings from S B Foot leathers. I have 2 pairs of the White's and would stack them up against the Grant Stones. Thanks for video...And, of course, I use a pair of Danner's and Whites for just weekends.. The Burgandy double shot leather is awesome..

OK, so I have 7 or 8 and have worn 4 more than initial fitting depending on if we'll count the Dockers ones that were a fake leather version of the Field Boot? Diplo fit terrible. I don't have Perry, Brass, nor either RW. I don't have Nick's YET, but they may be more worthy than Perry from what I have seen, but depends upon specific model perhaps. I have no Danner, but have Golden Fox and two versions of Wolverine. Is Danner better than either of those? And I have Thorogood and Truman, but haven't worn either yet. Keep getting sidetracked. WEDGE sole is more typified and accurate for all mine except 2nd Wolv has that odd work / hike sole thing. [Now he mention the heel just as I finish type that.] Field Boot is the live man's version of the Dockers one, as I've noted plenty before. I don't consider a WORK boot same as the White's, but that White's is still inferior product for what their usual output is supposed to be, but for about half the usual price. This might be the wrong model the Nick's for what I would order, but I'll go out on limb and say the votes were from RW fanboys and I'd be surprised if the RW didn't cut WAY TOO MANY corners and should put more on par BELOW the White's one that just won the last round? [Spoiler], but also is just the votes here and neigh the specs? Again, slightly different application for each boot model there instead some of the other categories so far because Thurs Diplo is also not a WORK boot, but more FASHION boot than FIELD boot, duh.

The "People's Choice" would have credibility only if everyone voting had tried all of these boots. My guess is that 75% of the voters do not own more than one or two pairs of these boots, and as such vote for what they know (and love). My personal favorites are the Red Wing Sawmill which I was able to purchase in Olive Mohave last year. They are also the only Moc-Toes on the list that I own which is why they would get my vote over any others. FYI - even though these boots (RW 2926 -Sawmill) are officially no longer available in the US (according to online searches), they are available in Europe and the UK. The bad news is that they will not ship to the US due to restrictions from Red Wing. Believe me, I tried everything, even reaching out to Red Wing directly. No dice unless you pay a service abroad to ship them locally, and then have them forwarded to you in the States, at extra costs of course. The good news? I walked into my local Red Wing to try on a different boot, and in conversations with the guy running the store I mentioned that I was looking for the Sawmill. He punched in the model number and lo-and-behold, a store in California had a pair in my size. He gave me the contact info, I called them, they were willing to do the transaction over the phone and ship them to me. So if you're looking for a particular Red Wing style, don't be afraid to walk into your local store and see if they can't find you a pair at another location. As always I appreciate the videos!

How can you place Thorogood near the bottom based on construction and durability, and then use that against a Nicks boot? This also compounds on the fact, that none of these boots are used in a work environment. Look at Jim green Chelsea boots. Like the outback. They’re supposed to be real good for the price. Or redwing Chelsea’s. Color is hard. It’s very personal. However, in general, get a dark color leather if you want it to look pretty close to the same forever or just a bit darker. Lighter colors if you want it to change and patina over time.

Boots have laces start with the basics. You're going to be wearing them most during the day. Lots of browns and colors to choose from. Don't buy anything from Redwing. They are not classics they are junk. Do not get them too small and get feet friendly cuts. They will shrink and your feet will grow another size or two easily. Feet never stop growing. They are going to a lil sloppy at first. If you are wealthy buy wtf you want. Don't get wedge soles. On Chelsea's latter . Lmao

I'm surprised the Red Wing Roughneck doesn't get mentioned more often when talking moc toes. I have a pair of the 2942 Copper Rough and Tough Roughnecks and they are great. The lug sole with a heel looks good with the tall side wall. I have to scrape mud and rocks out of those lugs all the time, but they look good.

I wanted to buy the most expensive boots approved through my company for my employee discount thorogood mod toe 10.5 were the most expensive on the list of approved boots 250 for the boots after my discounts went from 250 down to only costing me 100 dollars through Zappos for them being that expensive I was expecting top notch most comfortable water proof boots I ever owned to date when I got em in the mail I wore them the next day to my job well wearing them from home to work for a 20 min drive and about 1 tenth of a mile of walking in them I was so glad I took my old worn leaking keen San Jose work boots with me the left foot boot had a lot of pressure on the side of my foot and the right footed boot was 20 times worse the crushing pressure the right boot was putting on the sides of my right foot I was almost in tears and anyone that says thorogood boots r top notch quality I call major bullshit and this company is paying you to say good things about there boots first impressions last and thorogood boot company I will be avoiding your products like your the Black Plague never again ps both my left and right brand new thorogood work boot were 10.5 I rate thorogood at negative 20 for quality and craftsmanship
