This shoe cleaning is done by Francisco. He is 48 years old and has been a shoe shiner in Mexico City for 25 years.
Francisco's shoe shine chair is located in the beautiful park of Santa María la Ribera. The Park is always full of activity: people walking their dogs, dancing, or even reading a book, etc. Many people visit the very famous kiosk/gazebo called Kiosco Morisco to observe and take pictures of the unique structure.

Hi Sebsch! 1 dollar is the standard price in Mexico City. However, it can change depending on the type of shoes. I think for a shoe shiner to make a living out of this craft, they need to shine several shoes in a day. According to past interviews, shoe shiners have told me that before it was possible to make a living, now it's so much more difficult. For this reason, I believe and encourage people to leave a tip :)
