KO stands for Knock Out. That makes reference to old boxing shoes which were often made of canvas...

I’ve heard KO stands for knockoff. Apparently Nike was having issues with China making fakes. So Nike basically trolled them with these.

Thank you for the insight. I'm not a fan of the made to look vintage styles. As far as the AJ1 SB's I think they should have the padding of an SB, especially on the tongue. And while I'm making a wishlist I wish Nike would start making tongues about an inch longer. It really adds to the look.

they changed the outsole of all the retro from 2010. they use the same outsoles as the regular 1s but the original ajko has it's own outsole different from the regular 1s. me personally i like the current release of the AJKO cause they got the outsole accurate. really awesome videos you put out, so much knowledge really 1 of a kind.

We had a nike og head as a member of Niketalk like 8 or so years back and he claimed they're called the Air Jordan Knock Out. Originally they promised jordan responsive sneakers that would be as light as boxing shoes. To couple the sneaker along with that theme they made the whole upper canvas which used to(not sure if it still is) be what the mats on boxing rings were covered by as well.

It was a price point thing. They were a cheaper way to get the shoe you wanted. Some people preferred canvas as well.

Aaand we finally got vintage looking air Jordan 1 chicagos. @0:24 he talks about how in 2010 they retroed the AJKO to look vintage like the 80’s pair. 8 years later Nike finally did that to the regular Jordan 1 Chicago

Great review, but if you didn't know, with also the midsoles being the "OG" on the Air Jordan KO 2014, is that these have no Nike Air technology in the sole. They have the same exact sole on the Nike Vandal. Btw, I love your channel!

I don't think so. The Russell Westbrook 0 got the same sole. Vandal soles have never had air. Nike need to change it.

He didn't add the newest pair has nike sign tongue...I have both pair 2010 pair wit oxidation soles and this pair ..10 pair had jumpman on tongue but was a better looking shoe wit added oxidation soles

wow may i know something the god dont? early nike talk days i heard the reason behind the shoe was to be a play on all the canal st fakes of the jordan 1 so it was supposed to look like a knock off.... hence AIR JORDAN KNOCK OFF (AJKO)
