I've never been to a Japanese forest that had the wildlife sounds that we are hearing in this scene. Wonder where it is? Or if it was added later?

They filmed in Vancouver I think, so the sounds could be from there? However, given the level of detail the production team gave to the show, I doubt they would have forgotten to change the background noise.

I live in Lower Mainland (greater Vancouver). I could clearly hear a raven which is typical as the woodpecker here. Sometimes the forest can be dead silent depending on the season and the time of the day. Hard to say for the rest of the sounds but its seem enhanced judging by the weather.

@@petermatthewnewman6120 I perceived Anjin as fairly adequate in his pronounciation of japanese. Was he very lacking? My knowledge of japanese is only based on popular culture.

historically it was kato kiyomasa, and not his brother, just another daimyo loyal to the taiko and despise ishida mitsunari

It's an adaption of a book which changed the names of every person involved specifically to distant itself from real events in order to give the author greater narrative leeway.
