I bought both the OpenRun Pro 2 and the OpenFit 2 and tested both back to back for a while. Sound quality wise, the Openfit 2 wins by a large margin and has much more volume. Comfort for me is a wash since both have positives and negatives. The OpenRun Pro 2 is much easier to get on and off quickly and is truly open. These, while open, do actually block a bit of sound out since they do cover your ear slightly. My use case is primarily work from home and decided the higher sound quality is beneficial as I can actually listen to music on these and it sounds good enough to really enjoy it, the OpenRun Pro 2 don't get very loud and sound quality is not really good enough to enjoy music while I work. Both are great but decided the openfit 2 was better for me. The Mic's for video calls and phone calls are excellent on both.

Thanks for that. I have the open run pro 2 and really interested in these.

I've been waiting for your honest, non-sponsored review as I was trying to decide whether to upgrade from the original OpenFit. I liked the originals, but I always felt the SQ was lacking especially when compared to my AirPods Pro 2. So, better SQ is my main reason to upgrade, and the physical buttons are a nice bonus. Thanks for helping me make my decision!
@lucassoares408414 күн бұрын
They are still going to be far from the airpods SQ. Expect a better bone conduction sound quality, not a great "in ear" earbud quality . Try before buying if you can

That bump from 7 to 11 hour battery life is game-changing for me for wearing while I work. IP55 is a nice boost too. I’ll grab these as soon as they launch in the UK. Thanks Des!

Thanks for this review, Des! I've been marathon training with the original OpenFits and ran a marathon with them as well. They died on me after about 3h50min in the race, so I'm glad to hear about the battery life bump. My two biggest problems with the originals, though, are: 1) the IP54 rating was not quite enough to stand up to a few runs in the rain. I live in LA, but as soon as I tried them up in SF in the rain a couple times, the right one got muffled sounding, I think from water getting in the top-side speaker. Not shocking, considering the rating, but happy to hear these got a bump up in that respect. 2) Lack of control customizability. I prefer next/previous track and volume controls while running but the originals force you to choose between those. You can't have both, and it's really effing annoying. I have to adjust volume on my Garmin which is fiddly. Looks like these, via the button, offer the ability to have volume and next/previous track controls at the same time. Is that correct?

Nice one Des! My wife loves these things. We'll have to get a pair to try out.

These have been really good. If she needs a bit more security with fit, the OpenRun Pro 2s are a great choice with just a little compromise in sound quality but for running and overall comfort, these are fantastic. Thanks!

My open fit starting to have connectivity issues after about a year of heavy use. Now the sound is off so I ordered a new pair of open fit 2, I hope I like them just as much cause I love my open fits, they are the best over each headphones I've worn. Super comfortable all day.

Hi. I know you wear two watches, but I'm just asking out of curiosity. If you had to choose one, which one would it be? I've been with Garmin since the Fenix 6, then the 7, and I currently have the 8 since its premiere, but I'm seriously considering the Ultra 2. I love the buttons in Garmin, and the flashlight is literally phenomenal to me, but I'm drawn to the Ultra 2. That's why I'm asking. You can only choose one 😉

I really want to be able to trigger the voice assistant with the physical button. If I'm out running/riding and need to stop to make a call it's so much easier if I have gloves on and can just use voice to dial out.

First of all, thanks for the video. I was about to buy the OpenRun Pro 2 until I saw the video and now I have a question. I want them for running, since the ones I'm using right now are JBL ENDURANCE II. These have impeccable sound, since they go inside the ear. But my biggest problem is that I sweat a lot during exercise, and the sweat gets between the ear and the earphone, and it wets the entire earphone as well, and causes the sound to be lost to a large extent. Now, if I want to use them at home, for whatever, they are impeccable. With all this I want to ask you which one do you recommend: Openrun 2 or Openfit 2? Thanks.
@DesFit12 күн бұрын
If you’re after the best sound quality, the OpenFit 2 will be the better choice. I don’t think sweat will be an issue since these don’t go into your ear canal and the speaker kind of hovers over it.
@Fredddoh9 күн бұрын
@@DesFit I had the original open run pro, and when I run in a hot humid environment, my sweat will actually run inside the top facing port and block out most of the sound. Will I have the same problem with the open run pro 2 or the open fit 2?

I tried a few bone conduction headphones but on the bike, they were all disappointing. I usually use Bose Frames but they bleed a lot of sound and after many years, the battery doesn’t hold the charge for more than 3-4 hours. But the shokz open ear might be a great successor because Bose doesn’t produce the Frames anymore

Curious did you use the Fenix 8 and start an activity? Would like to see those tests on video as significant number of people have issues on Garmin once an activity starts so would be nice to find dependable headphones.

@MattSwain113 күн бұрын
I find the increased volume idea to be a bit at odds with the product. If you have something sufficiently loud next to your ear then at that point you might as well be wearing isolating headphones as you’re not going to hear the world around you which is supposed to be the point of these designs. I’ve got an old model of the bone conduction headphones and I think when they die, I’ll replace them with a similar pair. There’s definitely times when they are a bit quiet but battling noise with more noise doesn’t seem the right solution
@DesFit13 күн бұрын
There's still some amount of outside coming into your ear, bone conduction may be better but it's certainly not like a completely closed off design.
@1881Gordon13 күн бұрын
I actually tend to disagree with the OP. I have the openFit 1 and whilst the Volume is adequate, I find that when you're swamped with outside noise I do feel (very occasionally) that it would be nice to have just that little bit more in terms of volume, whilst still being able to hear my surroundings... Subjective, of course, but Just my Opinion.

Hello, on occasions when I only wear 1 earbud, is there a way I can increase and decrease the volume or do I have to adjust (up or down) from my phone? My Powerbeats Pro can adjust volume from either earbud and hope that I can do the same with these. Thx

Love this review and these are like the dream earbuds for me. But I do a lot of calling, and I mean a lot. How would you say they compared to AirPod pros as far as clarity on the microphone from somebody receiving them on the other end? I watched the part with the sample but just wondered if it was better, the same, or worse. Thanks!

IP55 Water Resistance ... simply too low for me. I had Shokz OpenMovie (also IP55) - died after 4 month of heavy use during cycling workouts. Replaced on warranty. Then died again. And again. Returned and changed to Shokz Aeropex (IP67). Survived two years and 3 months and died (3 months after warranty here in UE). Ok, now have OpenSwim, IP68. I hope this will survive for longer 😂😂
