I kinda prefer the art style during the elf arc over the current art style. The characters are more simplified, most likely because its easier for tabata.

Black clover art style was always really gorgeous for me. In the beginning it looked like a fairy tail book in manga fashion. Later it became more raw due to the characters getting stronger in the series.

In some of the final arcs chapters, Tabatas level of sperpective becomes shockingly good. Every chapter I feel like he’s holding back somewhat to save his best stuff for the really significant moments. However 😊every time those moments hit, the art is so good, it makes it completely worth the wait, specially with the double page spreads.

gotta love Tabata mastering the use of colors in general, especially emphasizing the use of black and grey that still give the general idea of what color they're supposed to be in the story, even they're just black and white images in the more literal sense

a manga that i love to just look at how the art changes is yugioh. if you look at chapter one next to the last chapter they look completely different and if yugi didn't have that iconic and distinct hair you could easily not realise they are the same series and artist.

great video! While there is a lot more white space in recent chapters (pre jump giga) i'd say that has it's own merits aswell. Similar to bleach it can often be used to really drive focus onto the characters actions making certain moments bolder and can really make the detailed backgrounds that do appear that much impactful. I think a good example of this can be julius getting stabbed by licht and when he falls to the ground the background emerges.

There is a slight changes in the quality of drawings of Tabata Sensei when after Lucius introduction where there is 3 months break. There is more quality to the line art and he draws more background compared in the middle era of art style of Black Clover. Overall i like the line arts the weight of lines and the variations of thickness.

The fight scenes especially are one of the best in all shonen in my opinion . They are always full of detail and satisfying to read , i really love how full of greys the panels are and the characters always have blood and other signs of being hurt

@@RuiSen1 Actually yeah I take that back, the major villains of black clover look crazy phenomenon but upon a bit of rereading I saw characters like the 8 generals of the diamond kingdom, and the dark disciples look very meh. The fracciones and lesser arrancar all have good designs. Kubo a walking W as always.

the character changes might not have even been that consious, the newer designs align more with the anime so he either wanted to lean on that or the character designs changed in his mind while spending more time with the anime

Here's a Fun fact that you won't recognize right away. Black Clover is Very much like Bleach. In Bleach, the Art Style shifted just as much. The In the start Backgrounds were well detailed, character designs starting rounded and slowly taking shape over time. Major shifts being between The First two arcs (Karakura and Rukia rescue), the next two (Heuco Mundo and Fake Karakura town), and then to the end (Lost Shinigami Representative and Thousand Year Blood War). In the first two, Detail is evenly spaced on character and background, And as each progresses, more and more focus is on the characters, with areas in the second arc being all in an artificial building and desert and the skies above town., and the last two having a lot more blank back grounds because the focus is on the movement and action, extreme detail on character expressions, and clear art shifts between serious and funny moments.

Black Clover is one of the only manga that I’ve only watched the anime, usually don’t watch an anime until after I’ve read the manga. netfix just got the anime here and I’ve had it on in the background as I read, I never realised how bad the animation is, I never noticed when I first watched it, but it’s absolutely terrible.

On average someone without the expertise don’t leave anything but hate and it’s a lot of that around.
