Honestly, I don’t think jjk does fights better than one piece. It might just be because the art is beyond too rough but I legit can’t tell what’s going on 90% of the time to call those fights “better”.

Personally I think One Piece’s paneling is great and is really good at leading your eyes through the pages. I don’t think it’s fair to compare it to JJK, a series literally called “Sorcery Fight” when the story of one piece itself isn’t really about the fights at all.

Hm, since you left out Part 7, 8 and 9 you left out the last 20 (!) years of evolution (part 7 started in 2004). I'd argue both part 7 and 8 had a big change in style so it's a bit weird doing a "How Araki Perfected JoJo's Art Style" video when you stop half way throughout Araki's career

The problem with oda is the new style doesn't suit his original style of onomatopoeia and because of that it makes the pages go from highly detailed panel's in small page to a big mess and an eyesore to keep looking at

Is this about the manga or the anime? Panelling how? Yeah Gege is great. But that’s it - it’s just the “awesome fights”. And choregraphy, like live action? Panelling has choreography too but its movement entails the reader’s eyes as well. So the panel should show a breathing, moving scene. Not just fights, but also in the silence, in the conversations, speech bubbles, and details. Fights are over-rated. JJK’s about curses and stuff. It’s cool but what? Shonen’s supposed to be the bridge that makes boys men. It should not be just about fighting. On the other hand, One Piece fights are way under rated. Simple panels and frames ON TOP of actual allegory and symbolism ON TOP of heavy, HEAVY narrative build-up, ON TOP of real-world metaphysical basis, ON TOP of a long format detailed with long-term and short-term story beats. That is an Epic. It is also epic. People can agree to disagree whether or not they think a brawl they had on a street (described by a “bad ass” look or someone saying “come at me” and few minutes of hitting each other) is manlier because they used acrobats and mystical shit and stuff compared to a war where one proves himself a man among men, becoming a hero (despite not wanting to, because he doesn’t want to share food) gets people and allies to join him in an adventure of a lifetime, and bring a literal new dawn in a world oppressed for nearly a millennium. Besides, you don’t compare a 5 minute story to an odyssey. “Hey, you just can't climb in the ring with Ali 'cause you think you box.” This was probably what that famous mangaka meant when he said mangaka were being held captive by their readers.
