Getting into and out of various shooting positions is part of the training. It's not just pressing the trigger.
Shooting from your knees is a fast way to shrink your profile, adjust shooting angles, see to shoot under obstructions and more.
Incorporate it into dry and live fire.

Please bear with my long comment. Good stuff! Great training tips! I loved that you brought up Jared Reston! I remember when that happened. I’m not far from Jacksonville and remember when it was in the news. My nephew that was a police officer in Gainesville Florida was killed in the line of duty only a couple years before. I was constantly up to date about Florida officers that were killed or wounded in the line of duty through a program called C.O.P.S. (Concerns Of Police Survivors) and been to Washington D.C. for a few Police Weeks to honor my nephew. I was pulling for Jared and prayed for him and his family daily. Shot 7 times with a .45 and not only survived, but won the fight! That is a Warrior mindset. As long as you have breath, you’re in the fight! I would love to go to one of Jared’s training courses. Again, awesome stuff Mickey!

I’m 65, but train to squat (low, not just duck down) instead of kneel. Less stable but more mobile and you don’t have to worry about a knee in broken glass, metal shards, etc. P.S. I evaluated all the CC Insurance companies & went with CCWSAFE. On my 3rd year with them.

When I practice dry firing & holster draw in my basement, I do sprinkle in dropping to one knee. Yes, in a self defense situation you might want to make yourself a smaller target. Add the links to those glasses Mick!

First of all, thank you for your gift of time and knowledge you share with us. Question: What's the opinion of practicing with Rx eyepro? My lamo opinion/thought is that if in an emergency I most likely won't have my Rx on, thus I should practice with they vision God has given me for a more realistic approach.
@CarryTrainer
@CarryTrainer 15 күн бұрын
If you need to see, you must see. Why wouldn't you have on glasses? I'd also say, it depends. I personally have a very minor RX. I can see plenty good to do most anything but read a street sign far away, my mom or sister on the other hand will not be navigating in their own homes without glasses. It depends

@CarryTrainer I'm far sighted and can see a humming bird taking a poop at 200 yard, but have a hell of a time focusing on the front sight on a pistol (rifle no issues). Thus, I don't carry readers/cheaters on me always and IMO putting on glasses before an emergency draw didn't seem practical. Pretty much think a red dot might be the best option.

Mikey can you do a video on the Mike Glovers debacle?
@CarryTrainer
@CarryTrainer 16 күн бұрын
No I'm not going to do that. That's Mike's business and not mine. Nor do I have any specialized knowledge on the situation. It's just gossip and what value would that provide? I wish all involved the best possible outcome, especially the children.
