Those EA Sports ports are scarily accurate looking.

I imagine it's why a lot of people think this was just a Genesis/Megadrive-on-a-chip Plug and Play, when that couldn't be further from the truth. Apparently they were ported line-by-line from the Megadrive versions to the SunPlus architecture though, so baring any mistakes should be close (I doubt the severe logic glitches we see here on NHL happen on the real unit though, that's got to be an emulation bug) Compared to most plug and plays these have a bunch of extra RAM too, I suspect they did that so that the original compressed data formats could be used, decompressing into the extra RAM the same way the Megadrive would into internal VDP VRAM, because SunPlus has no VRAM for tile data of its own and can only draw from the same bus space as the CPU.

Thanks for all the updates David 👍. I have a question I figured you could answer being a mame dev lead. My friend made a video playing Taitos night striker on the egress with a cyber stick think it was made for the x68000 and they mentioned the controls where floaty. so it got me thinking about how my Logitech flightstick controlled very well with out changing much else other than coins \ start buttons and action buttons in mame. Was the Mame control config for games like night striker created around Logitech flight sticks?

I'm not aware of the code being developed around any specific stick, it's a fairly plain implementation.

SPG110 audio hook-up isn't correct (it's currently leaning on the SPG24x code, but there are significant differences we don't currently account for)
