actually it depends on how the loading works and how practiced you are at it. also where you are holstering your side arm and how practiced you are at drawing it will make a huge difference. Someone practiced with an AR-15 can reload it in under 2 seconds. (which is why mag size limits are kind of pointless) Which is only slightly longer than an extremely fast appendix pull...that is of course if you don't have to first move your long gun out of the way before you draw. When it comes to a video game with preset animations that's always going to be true. but honestly in the real world there are plenty of exceptions and almost all of them come down to training.

I said this in the original video, but I was there 8 days prior to this shooting. My family and I were visiting my grandmother who lives in Sun City, about 5 minutes from this dealership. As soon as I saw Phoenix Police and not Peoria PD or Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, I knew it was going to be Jump-Out Boys or Detectives involved in the shooting. My dad and I were in this exact parking lot 8 days prior on, the 28th, looking at used cars and at used Corvettes down the street while going to do some errands. I’m so thankful for law enforcement and that he wasn’t able to get to the suburbs. Great breakdown as always Donut! Thank you for covering this one. Edit: I pronounce Peoria (Pee-or-E-uh). That’s what locals call it.

I'd transition at the time for two reasons, 1st The rifle has more penetration and range with more danger to bystanders and collatorel damage. 2nd The rifle's long barrel can be grabbed, deflected and would not be as functional at point blank range as a compact pistol would (Especially when dragged to the ground) As the officer was being rushed a pistol provides more accuracy, versatility and more control. I'd have made the same call or attempt to ambush the suspect on the corner. (Butt of the rifle, Forward kick, hooking the leg) Though with all that said, With shots already being fired it was the safest call imo...

I figured the reason why the officer transitioned to sidearm was to protect from over-penetration when he saw so many crossfire opportunities

he did not have a long rifle it was a 40mm less than lethal so he switched to his lethal

Donut!! You're killin' me man!! "Pee-Or-Ee-Uh" ... just like the one in Illinois. LOL!! This happened about a half mile from my house. They were very tight-lipped about the details on the local news, too. Nextdoor was all abuzz about Bell Rd being backed up because of police presence, but that was about it.

Speaking of Paul Harrell, I've watched his videos for years, and always liked them but never did subscribe for whatever reason. But when I saw Brandon Herrera's video, I believe it was titled "shot shot got spicy" or something along those lines, and he explained Paul's situation I immediately subbed to Paul's channel. It was at like 875K subs or so at the time. Happy to see that he made 1M. Prayers to him and his family
