I want it more for a long range hunting rifle so I really like the American Rifle Company Archimedes action. The Q fix I know probably not made for this kind of competition that thing has a teeny tiny bolt throw.

After you get a 3/4 -1/2 rifle wouldn't the most important thing be consistency of ammo?
@dennismassey61433 жыл бұрын
My biggest gripe about PRS, Unlike Archery where it is common to see Archers compete in their late 70’s, PRS does not offer a viable way for the Sr Shooter to continue his skills. The odd positions are hard for a Sr Shooter. I suggest a team component where Sr Shooters can compete in an Overwatch capacity to regain points lost by his younger teammates.

Then do benchrest or Fclass instead, the spirit of PRS is to make those more awkward shots. Stop asking for what is essentially a participation trophy.

What kind of scope mounts are those on the gun?

Rifles manufactured for military applications are not always the most accurate or the best to shoot.

How do people afford all this stuff? I'm a design Engineer and I'm doing good to just upgrade my Tikka with an Athlon scope. I'm mean if I was like, "hey wife, I'm gonna spend 4K on a rifle build today ok let me know what's for dinner" I'd be single paying child support. Yep there is plastic money but not having debt is nice! What's the secret. No disrespect at all if I could I would. My dream rig would be a Bighorn TL3, KRG Whiskey 3, Bartlien, with a Shmidt&Bender PM11 tremor3...but that would be impossible for right now. Anyways good info

Samuel Delaet well for starters if YOU are working then it’s YOUR money not your wife’s. My wife works and she doesn’t have a say in me spending MY money on guns. Bills are paid, foods on the table and savings is good, she can kick rocks when it comes to what and how much I spend. Also being debt free means more money in my pocket. And as far as affording it goes, save your money and don’t be set in stone when it comes to buying everything new. Tons of glass on the used market in great shape with a warranty backed by the company even if the scope is second hand. Lots of people upgrade and sell there stuff for new builds. You just need to know where to look like eBay, forums and various buy and sell pages. A lot of these guys build these rifles over time and not all at once.

I think the key is saving over time and buying piece by piece. I was wondering the same thing until I realized buying a little at a time makes the woman happier and I dont have to wait for ever to spend 4k at once.

You can build that entire rig for the cost of the lariat package on an f150 vs an xlt. People driving around with cushy leather trucks talking about how they can’t afford cool guns. You can, you just prioritize different things. (I’m not saying the f150 applies to you) I’m just saying there’s Somewhere you can cut, you just might not want to. Often it’s your vehicle, maybe it’s your new iPhone every year, maybe it’s fast food. If you’re an engineer there’s somewhere. Save you’re money and shop sales, it’s 100% doable.

I used to like Nightforce best but now I prefer the IOR Valdada 40mm tube scopes for a dream build. Damn shame, J Allen went out of business!

All that’s really nice! But the proofs in how well it shoots little biddy groups at long ranges. Show me that, then I’ll know you’re not just wasting my time. Don’t think I’m not likin that rifle tho! It’s a beauty, but it really doesn’t matter what you have until it’s been proven. If it’ll shoot a 5 shot group under an inch at 500 yards, you gotta keeper.

Mod 70 Winchester made by Griffith and Howell grade 5 french carlo walnut in 6.8 O'Connor. Not sure you guys would know bought that setup but would be beautiful. Ops y'all dont describe "platforms:" as beautiful. Seems like all young shooters think china is gonna attack Stockton California.
