We stumbled on your channel while struggling with FCPX and many of the other channels go so fast and don't show all the clicks but yours fit. David - I started watching your videos on editing about a year ago, and your Channel is one of the two best when it comes to video shooting & editing instruction for businesses. While today's topic is not for me - not a small business - I did learn several items that is beneficial. Also, and most important, it was one of your videos that explained how viewers skipping ads effects monetization. So I have little experience editing. I have tried but not a winner yet! I have been following you since 2010 when I got my first Mac. I usually use the default apps on my Mac or iphone to edit. I use my iPhone 11 to shoot my videos and as for the audio, I purchased a cheap lightning to microphone which clips on to my shirt. In prior videos, the audio quality wasn't very good, so it was a smart choice to buy one.

Great course so far,... the main thing I noticed is thatthe audio levels and such are all over the place...some sections quieter and others louder. Not meaning to be insulting, I point it out only because that's a common problem I have with my edits even though mic location and setup doesn't change, would love to learn how to fix that in FCP in future chapters!

Picked up Final Cut Pro years ago and never did anything with it besides make a video. Fell off and never touched it again. Some things it was easy to pick back up.. but I watched a newer video and wanted to started at 1 and work my way back up.. very informative. Want to learn for recreational and see what can become of it.

any microphone recommendations for recording 2 people during an interview without a shotgun mic? wireless mics? i could ask the question in a voice over and just play the video and the audio captured from my rode video micro but I think having the interviewer talk to the person being interviewed would make it seem less formal and more conversational. any suggestions?

'Filming' is not the correct terminology. I've been in the industry for 20+ years and never used film to record video. You have a great audience, please use it to update this out of date description.

When you go to the movie theater you see a film. When you are talking about contemporary cinema, almost ALL films are entirely shot, edited, and distributed digitally... yet we still call them films. On a separate note, I think it says a lot that you took your time to publicly chastise me over the use of one word and have totally ignored the fact that someone is creating a 12 part course that he's making available to the public in an attempt to support the small business community that is struggling to compete and survive.

@@TechTalkAmerica Everyone that I know calls shooting on anything digital, including our iPhones, as filming. I am not a video maker or editor, but I do know many, and all of them call it filming, so you are dead on. Filming is the correct term even if one in a billion consider it somehow "wrong."
