Another wonderful and informative video. Personally I see no reason to use the Chrome browser. Google and privacy do not go together. Chrome tends to use lots of memory and can slow things down on my Mac. Looking forward to the VPN video. Cheers David!

I’ve been using Malwarebytes from nearly the time they started. I recently bought my first Mac and it was the first thing I installed on it. It was the new Mac mini M1, awesome little machine. I have always recommended Malwarebytes it is the best. Great video David I can’t wait for the VPN video.

I'm not saying Macs can't get infected but In 15 years of running a computer repair shop I only seen 2-3 "infected" macs and it was simple browser hijackers. If you share files with Windows users having something like Malwarebytes will help protect them but if you are all mac on your network your chances of being infected on a mac are so slim as to be non-existent. Also there are no apps that will protect you from yourself. Social engineering is the biggest threat. Malwarebytes on a PC is a must have.

You re not counting silent attacks, its known that apple was hiding information about some malware. If you re careful enough on windows the chance of attack is almost zero, no pirate software. Google the rock star of mac security patrick wardle

On your advice in a previous video I installed Malwarebytes on my iMac. What a disaster! My Mac practically ground to a halt and was barely useable. And getting the app uninstalled was very difficult. That little icon on the taskbar is very persistent. Other Mac utube experts advise against installing any antivirus or ‘cleaning’ utilities. Given the difficulties why do you continue to push its use?

There is a malware called cyber search. It takes over the browser and seemingly cannot get it off. Even when you go into the settings and it says cyber search has taken over and the 3 dots on the right- omg! It won’t disappear!

I had a vpn on my phone and it wouldn't let me do anything. I had to call my service provider and they sent out a tech and as he was leaving he asked me if I had a vpn. I said yes so we turned it off and I was back to normal. I was so embarrassed I nave never used a vpn ever since. I was using a iPhone.

There's no scanning for malware on the iPhone, due to restrictions imposed by Apple. (No app can do such a scan.) It's possible (though rare, unless you're targeted by powerful people) to infect an iPhone, just not possible to scan it for malware. Malwarebytes has a Security app for iOS, but it's not antivirus (AV), so check its feature set to see if it provides functionality you want before buying. Security apps on iOS are more focused around web protection, protection against scam calls/texts, VPN, etc, instead of AV.

Would it be extremely safe to use the mentioned practices within a virtual machine or set of fully isolated virtual machines each with fresh install snapshots in which it is extremely easy to simply rollback the machine state in the event of a malware breach effectively mitigating the damage potential?

There are a number of sound effects that macOS routinely plays that could potentially sound like a door closing, such as the sound effect for moving a file to the trash. Try opening System Preferences, clicking the Sound icon, then the Sound Effects tab, and uncheck "Play user interface sound effects," and see if that eliminates the sound. (You can leave it off if you don't like those sounds, or turn it back on once you've verified that it's not happening anymore.)

@@terrydavis1488 Malwarebytes should not conflict with anything else, but we do recommend that you not use real-time protection features in two different antivirus programs at the same time. That can really put a heavy load on your system.

Do MAC's need Anti-Virus software? I already have Malwarebytes installed, but do I need Anti-Virus? On a PC, Anti-Virus would be the first program I'd install, but a few years ago, Apple told me that MACS do not need Anti-Virus.

Formar the mac and you never find anything because you need to report the virus to know about it Well every mac user denies the existence of virus.
