I watched a movie Starring Zoe Kravitz called KIMI, was entirely shot on the RED Komodo, and Leitz cine lenses...looked epic enough to me, regular audience would swear it was shot on a high end cinema camera.

Hi sir I am planning about making an indie feature film mostly horror and thriller. I am looking at sony fx6 and Red komodo right now. Which one would you recommend for me ?

I like the Komodo and the look of RED in general as it just “looks like a movie” right out of the camera. The FX6 is great too, and it’s more of an all-in-one video camera versus having to build the rig like with Komodo. And it’s a great option for documentary or run & gun style shooting. But for narrative fiction I prefer RED, but you will need to customize your rig. Best of luck with your film!

Question. My red camera turn on at first. Connected via dc-in. A test was conducted. And then, at the second power-up, it turned on, but after 30 seconds it went out. And it didn't work out any other way to turn it on. And they said that 4 boards were burned, how could this happen?

Whoa, never heard of that happening. Sorry to hear that. I know some people accidentally blow out their SDI port/card, but yours sounds extreme. All I can think of is some kind of unregulated power issue causing damage.

If it’s an older RED camera, technically it could go out over time, but there are a lot of RED Ones still around (from 2007) that are working fine, so that’s a little bit puzzling. Would suggest contacting RED.

Sounds very much like a power surge from mains power into camera. Best practice would be to have a powerbar with surge protection in your kit bags so no matter what happens between the main power and the surge protector, all your gear is protected. SDI issues come from connecting and disconnecting the camera through partially powered items as the 12g cable carries high current and can then short the weakest link that is switched off or on on the other end. The process for connecting devices is in documentation and on reds KZbin documentation. Really simply don't connect or disconnect the sdi cables until both ends have power. I hope you managed to get that sorted without too much financial pain.

I’m using this affordable Sachtler head and it’s worked great paired with some carbon fiber legs… amzn.to/3Mcy1f8 Or if you want to go a little nicer, look at the FSB-6.
