Hello Jeff. Hope you and yours are doing fine. Sure miss the fine videos that you and your family put up. Supreme Archery Videos. Many thanks, for all the work demonstrating, your talents. With traditional archery equipment. And being a great Dad. It's been a real pleasure sir.

@@joenelson4193 Excellent! His channel was one of my favorites. I knew he had battled some form of cancer that, fortunately, had gone into remission, but I feared that it may have returned. So glad to know that such a cool man, involved Dad and superb ambassador for the sport is alive and doing well. Still, I sure wish he'd make at least a short cameo appearence on KZbin. Jeff, you are misssed; not that you know much about missing things, namely targets.

I remember watching a video where you described the Push Pull method. Pushing the grip away as you pull the string back trying to keep the entire string in line with the arrow. And then picking that tiny spot and staying focused! I appreciate the fact that you don't bombard the tubes with archery videos as the ones that need to be seen are already made. Sometimes less is more.

Though you may not be posting videos right now, know that your past videos are still inspiring those of us who watch them. I shot some of my first self thrown aerial discs and swinging bottles last night mostly due to the inspiration I have gotten from your videos. I'm gonna enjoy the other vids you've done as I'm a new archer at 51 and I've learned quite a bit from the dozen or so vids I've watched so far. I don't know if anyone has suggested to you before but you should write a book on instinctive archery. You have a huge amount of first hand, practical knowledge that really should be documented. I think you'd do a lot for the sport and you'd help a lot of folks like me. Good luck and be well, Sir!

I would go with a longbow. Specifically the Bear Montana.
@entheogen91377 жыл бұрын
knife sharpening norway I second the bear Montana but it doesn't make a big difference longbow is slightly more forgiving than recurve but its not a big difference. I would go to a bow shop and see which feels better in your hands. Recurve has more of a pistol grip.

I see below that you're not shooting lately but thought I'd try to tempt you into a comment. I'm considering a 30# Bear Montana as my first try at traditional archery. I have a little past experience with a compound but its been a long time. I have considered buying one of the inexpensive recurves that are out there but honestly just feel like the Montana has a lot more "soul". Either way best wishes to you and yours.
@JeffKavanagh7 жыл бұрын
The Montana is a lovely bow. My kids bought themselves a 40# Montana together as one of their first bows and they still shoot it today. I have a video review of shooting it on my channel if you are interested. For myself I just wasn't having much fun with shooting any more and just am really bored with it now so I stopped. No big deal. I'm just doing other things like training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and things like that.
@rodagoose7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Definitely understandable. It's probably a little silly to think that hobbies/interests are not going to change over time. Glad to hear you're having fun and staying active. I did a little Jiu-Jitsu myself many years ago. Just be careful with those not-quite-so young joints and tendons of yours. At the very least don't feel like you have to beat up on ALL the young guys in the class. And yeah, that Montana looks pretty sweet, I think I might have to get myself one...
@JeffKavanagh7 жыл бұрын
I will still hunt with my bows and I will likely get back to it at some point, I have no clue when, but when I do it will just be for myself. Right now it just feels right for me not doing it. Haha at your comments on BJJ! I call it "glass arms" BJJ. Yes I am careful but no, I still try my best to beat up on all the guys 25 years younger than me but with little success. lol It's a ton of fun and I love it. I train with a really great group of guys as well as my son Will, who by the way kicks my butt!
@orver17 жыл бұрын
Jeff Kavanagh Mr. Kavanagh, first off, I am grateful to you for this channel; it's become an important part of my beginner archer experience. I shoot a 35# PSE Recurve now, but I'm about to buy a 45# Bear Montana Longbow. My only real concern is the hand shock. Some people remove the leather grip for aesthetic reasons, but I'm wondering if you've found it to have hand shock, or if you think removing the grip is wise. Thank you for your videos, your commitment to the traditional archery community, and your gentlemanly conduct of the sport. I wish you the best.
@JeffKavanagh7 жыл бұрын
Our Montana is 40# and I would say it has a very minimal hand shock not really worth mentioning. The only time I have ever noticed hand shock with it was when I had to have a surgery done on my right shoulder and I could feel the bow through that. You can take the hand grip off and put it back on again. It's all personal preference.
