Great sample of awesome photography with an APSC and FF glas. Of course you are a master in controlling it and that counts for more than 70% of the success of a shot for sure but you proved that the sky is the limit also with APSC. Thanks for sharing Great video to start a day. It's shooter - light - glass - camera and not the other way around

Glass glass glass. But if you can't afford a full frame camera. Then you probably can't afford most of the full frame glass used at this wedding. witch is more expensive than the apsc camera. But i still get the point. And enjoyed the video

Dude, I've shot a few small weddings and literally sweat with anxiety, trying to focus, create the shot and remember to capture the pivotal moments. You seem so at ease and fluid. The way you move furniture around, dayum!! I feel like one needs some big kahonas to move a lamp lol. Its totally understandable tho, when we see the images...clean, no distracting objects and a huge reduction in post editing. Confidence is key. Thx for this video. Hopefully, theres a next part?

I think what would have been even better is to have shot the wedding with crop lenses too, instead of full frame lenses. A lot of people who would watch this only a have crop body and crop lenses. I recently shot the crop lens 18-105 f4 on a A6000 and I was shocked at how sharp that lens is at F4 wide open. Jason, you gave some great advise in this video.

Even I thought of that, but I think sometimes we photographers should look at our buying options for long term advantages. I own D3300 awesome camera only after I learn to push its strength & overcome its weakness(no HSS). But when I bought 35 mm f1.8 DX instead of 50 mm FF1.8. I realised when I upgrade to Full frame I have to buy 50.
@JasonLanierPhotography
@JasonLanierPhotography 6 жыл бұрын
I've always advocated for purchasing full frame lenses for crop sensor bodies. Why? Like Amit said, you need to think longer term. Eventually most photographers upgrade to full frame...so having lenses that will work for those cameras is critical. For the most part I don't recommend buying crop sensor lenses.
@CVCC
@CVCC 6 жыл бұрын
true, but unless you need very low light capabilities or the absolute best dynamic range, today's crop sensors are fantastic. The only thing a full frame gets you is more latitude in your images and processing. So it depends on what you shoot. That 35mm 1.8dx is a very sharp lens. Look at how many pro full frame shooters have gone into the aps-c of Fuji. A great upgrade to the 3300 would be the 7200 or 7500. that would give you your hss. duel controls, a more pro like body. and with the 7200, duel card slots.
@Thunderbird1337
@Thunderbird1337 6 жыл бұрын
I would say that most people who buy APS-C cameras (myself included) do it because of the compactness of the system and/ or the price. So buying full frame lenses completely ruins the sense of an APS-C camera in my opinion. They're bigger, heavier and more expensive. On the other hand the Sony lenses are quite value stable, so you can just sell them with small loss whenever you want to switch to full frame. That's why "thinking longer term" is no argue for full frame lenses in my personal opinion. If I decide to use APS-C, I want to take advantage of its benefits. Just my 2 cents :)
@Lokishand
@Lokishand 6 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t have called the 18-105 f4 very sharp, but maybe I’m spoiled by Sigmas 30mm f1.4. The thing about APS-C lenses is that there are not that much good APSC lenses for the e-mount. They are not bad but Sony’s FF lenses are just gorgeous. Maybe consider Fuji if you want APSC support all the way.

Thanks for showing us that you don't need a 4000 USD camera to create stunning images. So many KZbinrs and VLOGers are so in to that you need the best to make good photographs. So many saying that you need a Sony A9, Canon 5D etc or you wont make it as a photographer. Would love to see more videos like this one. What can you create with a mid range camera like the Nikon D7200 or similar Canon, Sony camera?

Most of Jason work reflects his strong know how of fundamentals of photography. Posing, composition & main thing is lightning. Mastering those helps us taking better image. I had trouble shooting with my D3300 at 1/320, due to lack HSS support in camera my SB700 won't fire. I was considering buying D7100/7200. My work was related more into traditional wedding photography. instead buying D7100/7200 I solved it with renting Porta light setup.

The 80D has a bit higher pixal count but watching a few youtube videos after receiving your first comment... The difference as for what I can see is very minimal. Using a fast lens with a 1.4 aperture should make a difference as well.. With ALL due RESPECT, A person could chase the camera gear that rolls out of the manufacture tomorrow which will be better than the last product it closely resembled... This is the way "toy" manufactures want people to support them. The same goes for home theatre equipment.... 10 years ago, I was fortunate enough to by a high end manufactures brand (Denon) receiver that was 3rd from the top of their "professional" level of home theatre auto equipment. Today, it's not worth the card board box it comes with. IMO, this applies for everything we buy that has to do with electronics and I believe the DSLR - rather it be Nikon, Sigma, Pentax or Canon.

Jason Lanier just I m enter in professional photography life within few days and I think to buy Sony model but I have questions about which crop sensor sony model is worthy for better low light performance than the canon or Nikon semi DSLR and finally I got u r wedding shoot with Sony a6500 so please share u r experience about camera output in low light or available light photography... I m not emphasis only on camera but 😂😂😂 i m Indian and some cheap people see Camera how much big and think Ridgid like big camera and big lens can only do better either r u not professional 😂😂😂 so just I wan to invest in second crop.sensor mirrorless camera which can do something more than the canon 60d..... Please don't ignore me...🤗

I own a GFX and several full frame cameras and I usually prefer crop sensor cameras because they are portable and an x-t2 blows away everything but the GFX in image quality.. I've even shot an entire wedding with an x100F and it was awesome because you can get so close without drawing attention. Did almost 70 weddings this year. I will say full frame lenses work great on crop sensor bodies but I never use FF lenses on crop bodies, it's a lot bigger and more distracting than a crop lens it kind of defeats the entire purpose of a crap body.

Not sure about the point of shooting with FF lenses on aps-c, unless you happened to have aps-c camera and FF lenses, but not FF camera. FF cameras are not that much more expensive these days and it is the lenses that are the bulk of the cost and weight. You might as well go for the FF camera if you are planning to shoot with FF lenses. Manufacturers make their their APS-C cameras compatible with their FF lenses to lower the cost. Downside is that APS-C users carry unnecessary size/weight. Different story with Fuji that exclusively make APS-C lenses for their APS-C Camera though.
