what monster would neuter a beautiful piece of history like that 😭, all stgs should be left as is and have full auto.

I totally had that same thought as soon as he said it I even turn the video off because I'm not interested in seeing an STG shoot in semi auto. I wonder who raped and neutered that piece of history

They can be converted back if needed, many have non original parts anyway.

Yeah especially since one of unique advantages of this gun is how controllable it is in full-auto. By modifying it to semi you lose that entire flavor
@MaximMachineGun
@MaximMachineGun Жыл бұрын
This gun had to be cut up and rewarded into a semi auto. You can't just "clip" it. So it was cut up receiver and parts or a semi auto. No legal way of making it FA for the private market.

If not registered before May 19, 1986 the reciver had to be cut to ATF specifications, personally id rather see it rebuilt (even if it’s only semi auto) than being melted down and turned into a shitty magic chef microwave, just me though

An 80 year old firearm and it still looks the business, like many of the German weapons, FG42, MG42, Luger, PPK (Tom’s favourite !)

DAM! 8mm Kurtz are no joke. Fast, hard hitting and accurate. I've never seen a stg-44 tested at an indoor range. It revealed the stg's stout recoil, esp slow motion. Even with gas operation, it was still delivering a good shoulder kick. I would think on full auto, such recoil would be uncontrollable. Perhaps not an issue as ww2 combat ranges were typically less than 100m?

Hopefully they're not in 8mm Kurtz. Something like 7.62x39 would make much more sense if you want a shooter...

I have always been wondering if these mags can be reloaded by pushing ammo through the feed lips like a magpul/any ar mag. Is that the case? I saw you pushing them under the lips but I was not sure if you needed to or not
@glenstg
@glenstg Жыл бұрын
Yes they can be reloaded by pushing the ammo through the feed lips. The magazine is a double stack double feed. I have a clip guide that slots onto the rear of the magazine enabling 5 round stripper clips to be used
@WhiteBirdPlays
@WhiteBirdPlays Жыл бұрын
@@glenstg thanks for the comment! Good to know, I have never seen them reloaded with stripper clips so that is also interesting. I didn’t know they put kurz on stripper clips but they’d fit the same clips other 8mm would so it makes sense
@cognitivedisability9864
@cognitivedisability9864 Жыл бұрын
@@glenstg interesting never knew this, I was actually thinking about this the other day since most other mag fed weapons outside subs in ww2 were usually reloaded with stripper clips and only mags for emergencies, and a soldier would generally only have a couple mags. Makes alot of sense as carrying strips are a pretty neat way of carrying extra ammo if you dont have alot of mags.
@glenstg
@glenstg Жыл бұрын
The simple clip guide works very easily and it fits in the butt trap along with other bits like the takedown tool and even a little manual, the Germans think of everything! The ammo often came pre loaded in clips, ready straight out of the box

You seem so accurate and correct (likenthe vgegmdns also are) but then you say it is in 8mm calibre. Now, it is in 7,92 mm. You should honour the corrret spesifications.

MP44? Stg44! Sturmgewehr is not the same as Maschinenpistole. Same year, yes. Different calibres. The MP uses 9x19 Para, the Stg uses 7,92mm. Different fields of use since the Stg was the 1944 new battlerifle while the MP was used exactly like the other MPs.
@MaximMachineGun
@MaximMachineGun Жыл бұрын
Sorry, that is not correct. These guns were labeled MP before being changed to STG. German politics...
@joakimblomqvist7229
@joakimblomqvist7229 Жыл бұрын
@@MaximMachineGun Yep, checked the litterature. Stg44 had another variety, MP44. My bad. Same calibre, 7,92mm short. They were both developed from the MP43 but the reason for hiding it was a Sturmgewehr and not a Maschinenpistole didn't exist after 1939. And at that point there were no Stgs.
@MaximMachineGun
@MaximMachineGun Жыл бұрын
@Joakim Blomqvist there was a MP38 and a MP40 both in 9mm. The MP43, MP44, STG44 and a few other variations were in 8mm kurz (short). Then the K98, semi auto rifles, FG42 and MGs were in 8mm mauser the full size rifle cartridge.
