The STG-44 was where Stoner and Sullivan first saw constant recoil. “Constant recoil” a system in which the bolt never impacts the rear of the receiver and the recoil impulse is felt as a continuous push instead of series of impacts...

In fact, I will believe that the AR-15 is more of a copy of the STG 44 than the AK47.

the only problem is that it's too complex and too many little parts to manufacture, if you look at how Mr Kalashnikov simpified it's concept, he created the perfect assault rifle, but all credit to the Germans ofcourse for inventing and setting the first steps

There are much more similarities among AK47 am M16 than among StG44 and AK47. So we can conclude that AK47 has huge influence on M16 and may be even prototype.

Really the Aks system is a copy of that of the garands, even kalesh himself admits it.

@@WestlehSeyweld Just for curiosity have a look at M1 Grand system and honestly your statement plainly ridiculous. Common among those two rifles is just that - there are rifles albeit VERY different ones . Been inspired (about Kalashnikov) and being prototype (about M1 Grand) is like chalk and cheese. In reality as almost everything in modern weaponry gas-operated reloading starts from JMB from his BAR.
@WestlehSeyweld2 жыл бұрын
@@ТутБылЯ-ч3ь your right I shouldn’t have said copy, but the idea of using a long stroke piston was inspired by garand’s gas system. As well as it uses the locking lug design of the M1 Garand and a trigger and safety group designed by John M. Browning. With that being said Mr. Kalashnikov was still a genius and still designed one of the greatest rifles of all time, I have nothing but respect for him.
@ТутБылЯ-ч3ь2 жыл бұрын
@@WestlehSeyweld There is other thing that bother me. It is believed that success of StG44 and consecutively AK47 was due to "middle" cartridge and it is often said that introduction such cartridge was main achievement of designers of StG44 that was adopted (you may say copied) by Kalashnikov. M1 Grand used true rifle cartridge 30-06 and therefore cannot be directly compared with either StG44 or AK47. However in USA was another very interesting cartridge and rifle - I am talking about M1 30 Carbine that used very similar concept to StG44 and AK47 though it had been introduced well before. However for some freaking reason I never read about it when discussed either StG44 or AK47.

Only criticism I have is that this animation doesn't show the bolt stripping a round from the magazine, sliding it up the feed ramp, and into the chamber then relocking the lugs on the bolt. In this animation, the rounds just magically move from the magazine to the chamber at the end of the bolts feeding cycle. Other than that, pretty cool animation.

". The StG 44 largely influenced the Soviet AK-47" its a myth. you can literally go now and check ak47 mechanism and realize how different is. Ak7 is more complex and only resamble the the stg for its shape and cartridges tho kalashnikov admitted he took insipariation from AS-44 which is probably more close to the Garand
@hairydogstail Жыл бұрын
He took the lay out and gas piston/ carrier lay out from the STG, this is rather obvious..He took the rotating bolt and fire control group from the M-1 Garand..Stoner took features from the STG too..

@itspersonnal6883 Жыл бұрын
No, this is actually lever locked I believe! The famas would be lever delayed. The cartridges start extracting as soon as the detonation happens while in our case here, it can’t be extracted until the bolt carrier picks up the bolt fully

Whatever the reason, the STG 44 was the greatest rifle of its time, coupled with the MG 42, it made it a deadly partner for combat in many Nazi army operations.

I’m not gunsmith, but It looks like there’s not a gas vent in the barrel that would chamber a new round. It’s just brute force from the gases in the receiver alone chambering the round, which means that the AK is not a “copy,” like so many people like to say.

@hairydogstail Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a term describing a (select fire) rifle using an intermediate cartridge. It is (assault weapon) that has no meaning in the nomenclature of firearm text, it is a made up term by anti gunners to confuse the two different firearms so they could demonize semi auto firearms and ban them..

As long as the gun is powerful enough to take down a target at any range, has a selected fire and is light enough to run and gun about, you can call it an assault rifle.
