Thanks for putting this together Jonny, definitely some food for thought. I think the idea of the WhatsApp groups for the raising of issues and concerns in an effective way could be fantastic for the community. Ultimately what will be will be, but I think it's important for everyone to get engaged and promote the sports and activities that they love

I really enjoyed this. I disagree with most of it, but enjoyed it. Actually I listen to this twice. In America we have the ability to travel all navigable water. It only really causes trouble with gentrifiers, to move from the cities and don't understand the people have rights to travel up the water. They, angry and call the cops, and the cops get angry yell at them. We have vast tracks in public land, hunting isn't supposed to be easy. Initiate orange laws, to protect people. Extend seasons if necessary. At the beginning you touched on it though I don't know if you knew it. And you also did touch on it in your pump shotgun video. What is missing from hunting in the United Kingdom and why it's looked down on is because it's not something the common man does. And if you want to protect it, you protect it with the common Man. By making it available to them. By making the right access available. And I personally, as is typical for an American, believe it a right with or without the law. So it seems to me that many British people; the landed mostly. Want to have their cake and eat it too. Which isn't all that surprising. If you want people to understand wildlife they need to be exposed to it. If you want people to support the traditional acts of hunting, they need to be engaged in it. Britain's a small country, but you know enough to know that every state is basically its own country. There are other states that have high populations and have dealt with these issues. This is a solved problem. Licenses, quotas, quota raffles, land, science, orange laws, seasons, rights.

Totally over thinking the licence fee increase - the thought process behind it was most people in the this country don’t understand shooting and don’t like guns so saying we’re going to tax firearms owners more is a crowd pleaser.

The labour firearms licensing charge is ridiculous I’ve posted about this a bit, taxing a law abiding citizens hobby to pay for illegal knife crime 🤷♂️ Disgusting

Right to roam effects non-landowners more than it does landowners because there are more of them. Exposure to nature is the biggest pusher for respect for the environment around them. There should of course be ways to hold people accountable for damage but any restrictions to right to roam should be extremely considered and very light.

I can't see or edit my original post/rant. But in much nicer terms, too many will abuse the "right" regardless of whether it was intentional or not. The countryside and those living in it and taking care of it will be much worse for it. Shouldn't the government spend some of the VAT money to buy up land as it becomes available and make public spaces to be roamed?

Its unfortunately disheartening how painfully ignorant all of the parties are of the idea of effective and safe ownership and use of firearms, none of the major parties actually represent a good long term option. As much as I wanted to vote Labour this election, this new addition of raising the cost of licensing for the sole purpose of generating revenue to fund a completely unrelated issue when firearms licensing teams are struggling already is a dealbreaker for me, why is it that when we get some opportunity to improve and better fund these critical services all the money gets side tracked, leaving us worse off and the struggling services no better?

Tax tobacco and alcohol. Much more money to be gained there.
