It actually has a front locking lug. The lug on the side or rear is kind of a safety lug like the notch for the bolt.

I have a 1912 Winchester 1895 chambered in 30-40 Krag. It has a .312 barrel. I found 1 box of ammo online, with .306 bullets. They tumble.

I hand load for my Krag using .308 bullets. You can slug your barrel and determine the exact diameter. Bullets for the .303 British are .312 diameter.

@@FlyingKSports Yes I slugged the barrel. People were saying that about the .303 being .312. The rifle is gorgeous, looks new. I was so disappointed when I shot it. ugh. I'll have to get another press, and some bullets. At least I have 20 pieces of brass now. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2iumnuepbhgeck

Did you really use large pistol primers? Did you find load data for these?
@FlyingKSports2 жыл бұрын
I mis- spoke in the video. I used large rifle primers. Don’t use pistol primers in rifle loads.

How much did your KRag cost?
@FlyingKSports2 жыл бұрын
I bought the Krag a while back. It came with a beautiful bayonet and sheath. I paid $950 for the whole set-up.

@@FlyingKSports i know the ones on International Military Antiques are over $2000 -granted they are sometimes rarer 1892/4 and 96 models with low serial numbers or whatever. Unbelievably, a local gun shop had a collector come in with a KRag on consignment made in 1899 with 1901 stock cartouche in beautiful condition. It was priced $850 and marked take $200 off if you don’t want the bayonet!!!!!! Needless to say I couldn’t let that deal go by!!!! With ammo and accessories disappearing for KRag I think it will be buyers market for awhile so I’ll keep my eyes open for another even a beat up sporter just to have extra parts to keep the all original one running as time goes by. Thanks for responding-really enjoyed the video. Scott

@@scottlawrence6057 I had a sporterized Krag and I sold it. Should have kept it just to have a shooter and spare parts.

@@FlyingKSports I think there will be alot on the market because no one has ammunition , reloading components or accessories for them. Good luck with your search!!!

Since the ammo is so hard nowadays to find and I don't reload, do you have any suggestions on rebarreling to a different caliber? I was thinking either 30-30 or better still the 303 British since the brass is almost the same as 30-40 krag in length and rim diameter. Thanks
