Fine video. The sunset shots were great, especially at 16.22 with the building with the pillars. Like Joel Meyerowitz's Cape Light.

Beautiful video (as always). I suggest reading "The Revenge of Analog" by David Sax, who describes exactly what you say about effort, the imperfect, real things and why they matter.

Our favorite Vibe hunter snuck in a LOL like nobody would notice. the Helios was pretty strong. Really liked the video to photo transitions in this one. I like how you compared your work to a high heel, on a more serious note, I watch your videos because you are trying to come up with original ideas and I gain drive for my own work when I watch someone not giving a fu** about what makes financial sense. Good comment on the current AI situation, on god! I’m gonna go fu** myself now, bye.

Well technically it’s not my point but Adam Waytz‘s but I am glad you agree. I wouldn’t mind if people skipped this part of the video but it seems like the article has a great point.

When people ask me why I do it (Usually about KZbin or my old BMWs) I tend to reply. - "A really good hobby takes a lot of time, and usually also costs lots of money" Some people laugh, and some are offended, truth is hard sometimes 😋

very nice video, beautiful shots. if you allow me to give you feedback, remove these reveal effects from the pictures because it kinda disturbs the small amount of time that we have to enjoy them.

All good my dude. So far I received nothing but love for the effect but it’s actually making the extremely time consuming process of creating these videos even more complex and I am happy to dump it s soon as it turns out you’re not the only one to find it distracting.

Thoroughly enjoyed this video. You're absolutely right, too; Effort is interesting. It would effectively need the breakdown of/end state capitalism, including a reset in what society determines as valuable. So handcrafted goods that are unique (and not even duplicates as you attempted in your film) rather than mass-produced 'stuff' are valuable because of the human + process x product produced. I suppose everything needs a lower cost to be more accessible and then lower cultural capital to be perceived as accessible? Bourdieu's cultural capital...

I think humans have a baseline of being born with intention. Thing is, so much of the modern world/tech is designed to destroy that. 'Convenience' with the end goal for us to conform and consume. The intention you talk about needs to happen further upstream. Instead of how we use a certain technology, we have to be intentionally and think about if that tech truly serves us/humanity in the first place and what the likely cost is to the new cool/convenient thing. There's always a cost, and recently IMO the cost has far outweighed the benefit. Generative AI.....don't need it, don't want it, haven't used it, and don't plan to. Haven't used ChatGPT either. No need to embrace something I see as a liability. People adopt these new technologies because of a prescribed view of 'progress' or because they think there's no option but to embrace it. Either way, to me that's the opposite of living with intentionality. All that said, I really dig the video (along with all your others) and the message of valuing time invested in addition to the final product. Fellow Hasselblad 500cm shooter, always stoked when I see a new video of yours pop up.

Hey Aaron! Couple of valuable thoughts right there. However, I disagree that there is no need for generative AI. This might apply in your situation but all I can say is it already helped me a lot. Roto brushing, generative fill, generative healing stamps, generative coding in After Effects etc are massive time savers. I am actually dead serious with my recommendation to embrace it as it helps artists keep pace with the competition in an already pretty challenging industry. Anyway, conversations like this one are exactly the reason why I started this channel. Glad to have you here!
