A magnificent "end of an era" rifle. Utterly no-nonsense from looks to bayonet. If it came a bit earlier and in more numbers i'm sure it would be more famous.

The cartige is 7,5 x 54mm 1929C MAS , this modern cartige (similar to the 7,62 x 51 NATO) was made for the squad automatic rifle MAC 24-29 who did replace the 1915 CSRG Chauchat, who was in the obsolete 8mm Lebel, unsuitable in modern magazines. The bayonet from the MAS 36 was still use, a bit shortened, on the german paratrooper automatic rifle FG42...

Get yourself a few tripper clips to get the complete MAS36 experience. French dressing is vinaigrette: Oil, vinegar and a touch of Dijon mustard proportioned according to taste 🤨

I solid beast of a rifle, but I hated the stiff and awkward bolt and heavy trigger pull. Sights are good too!

Some folks think it's an ugly looking rifle because it doesn't have the looks of a Garand, a Mauser or a Lee Enfield but I think it's a beautiful piece in its own right and in any case it was built for efficiency and functionality rather than looks. Seems to have a bit of a kick (and I don't care what others may say but that bottle of French salad dressing is DEAD).

l'art et la manière d'inventer. Le FLN fut le plus grand assassin d'Algériens, villageois soupçonnés de collaboration ou membre du MNLA. les pertes dans le camp du FLN n’excèdent pas 300 000 combattants. Par contre, vous avez tués plus de 400 000 Algériens et pieds noirs. Sur les 25 000 tués dans les rangs de l'armée Française, la moitié le furent après avoir été fait prisonniers. Par contre, à la libération, plus de cent mille membre du FLN furent libérés des prisons. Personne ne croit le récit des Algériens concernant les évènements de 54 à 62. Des combattants oui, mais totalement vaincus par l'armée Française. N'est pas viet cong qui veut.
