Love the content, any plans on the matching Allen engineering suppressor?

Much appreciated! So I actually have two AEM 5’s in jail as we speak. Can’t wait to get the stamps back

@@hkrifleworks can’t wait to see them on the channel, I am genuinely curious as to the claims made about them

As am I. I’m only a month or so into this wait so maybe spring - summer 2022 or so is the earliest I’ll be able to get some content up on them 😞

Love the videos, farthest I’ve been able to get my mk12 out to was 600 and that was with m855. Really want to get into reloading and really stretch the legs on it.
@hkrifleworks3 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated man! Very nice, I’ve never had the best luck with M855 in terms of accuracy over a few rifles but I’m sure with some 77gr match ammo you can get out there no problem 🤙🏼. Highly recommend getting into reloading as well if you have the means to. Be on the lookout I’m going get some more loading videos up on the channel as well if you’re interested!

Sellier and Bellot 77 grain HPBT. It's the poor man's MK262, goes for about .80-.85 cents a round. Pushes just over 2600 fps out of a 16 inch barrel, I've managed right at 1 MOA at 100 yards with it, HBAR barrel free float with mil spec trigger. The lower fps isn't much of an issue, the military really really pushed the Black Hills MK262 with the 2700-2800 fps because they wanted more power down range, and it only costed them .5 to 1 MOA at those ranges with that velocity.

I enjoy NRA Long Range, shooting in iron sight US Service Rifle Division with a .223 chambered match conditioned 1/7 twist AR-15A2. I shoot an 80 grain Berger over 24.8 grains of RE-15 in Winchester primed Winchester Brass. This is a very hot load yet bullets barely make it to the 1000 yard line, in most atmospheric conditions so far, before they become unstable. This makes me wonder about ways and means to get better performance, meaning more velocity at lower pressure. This is highly desirable, since my current loading only has an MOA wind constant of 10 at 1000 yards. That makes holding 1 MOA X-Ring really difficult because it only takes an indiscernible 1 mph wind change to move bullet impact over 10 inches. I’ve heard that PP 2000 might get me desired results but I have not been able to acquire that powder for testing. At any rate, my average score at 1000 yards now is 94% with about 15% in X-Ring so hoping a better performing powder will come to my aid. I enjoyed this video because it appears this kind of informal shooting might be more fun than tedious Long Range Competition Shooting. Unfortunately I live in the east where 1000 yard shooting is usually only accessible via competition on Military Posts.

Thanks for the info. I have also competed for a while and have transitioned more to informal shooting as I just enjoy tinkering and testing. The value of being able to isolate variables and record changes is awesome to me. On top of that, I can still take a fairly new rifle with a fairly new load (High SD, non optimal powder) and achieve a 75% hit rate out to 1000 yards with an 18 inch AR. There may be some ranges you can go visit. I am also on the East Coast and do not have to find a military base

@@hkrifleworks My home range is Ft Knox. Sometimes I shoot at Camp Atterbury, Camp Perry, and Oakridge. These are in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee. Unfortunately, all are only open for NRA Governed competitions.

Do you have any local ranges or private training facilities that have the facilities to shoot past 500 yards? We have a few here in the southeast that just require a yearly membership.
@charlesludwig9173 Жыл бұрын
@@hkrifleworks There is one range in my area which accommodates shooting to 500 yards. It’s a Club range and I used to be a member but during the rainy season a creek prevents access. Another range in area is 300 meters, very nice range. But closest range for limited practice value is a 100 yard tube range on Ky Fish & Wildlife property. I used to conduct a facsimile of SAFS Training on the 300 meter range but insurance and concern for liability was cause to cease that training. At any rate, casual long range is problematic in my area and thus I practice on the MR-31 target trimmed to 4.4 inch bull diameter and I record data/calls/strikes to make me competitive at the long line sans desired wind countering ability. Still managed to get long range High Master classification and US Distinguished Rifleman Badge since for many years I competed in mid and long range NRA events, as well as CMP governed EIC matches where i became an adequate wind reader. I also assisted the USAMU deliver SDM, TTT, and SAFS Training which included wind counter session and that helped me with my own wind reading development. Still no substitute for actually being on the long line because there’s always something there not encountered before that persuades further marksmanship development.

Awesome gun bro! Torn right now between the 0 and the H. Is there a reason you went with the 18 or the 16?
@hkrifleworks11 ай бұрын
Thanks man! I went 18” for a bit more velocity. I have a Mod 1 (ish) I converted to 6 ARC so I supplemented with a Mod 0 in 5.56 here. Definitely have my eye on a mod H also. Great rifles for sure!
