I just ordered a extra from Taylors and doubled them up. Same retaining screw works. Put Slix nipples in. Did it a week ago. Works great.

In my experience with Uberti colt style repros the 15 grain load of 3f seems to prevent the cylinder seizing up on a .36 caliber navy and a 25 grain load with a .44 caliber army also helps prevent the cylinder seizing up

That and having the wedge installed to the proper depth is important, I have found with these colt repros that do not have any adjustments made to the arbor bedding, if the wedge is driven in too-far it the cylinder will bind. Thanks for watching!

To me, the pocket navy is basically a .36 cal version of a 1849 Colt. Very nice piece; I bet the original you have is a great little revolver.

couldn't agree more forty four.colts are pretty.theyre sexy.they point well.and they are one big pain in the neck.i have a bunch.from the pocket police with a 3.5 inch barrel,to the walker and everything in between.and there's always some kind of problem.the cap jamming really is irritating.tried different things.jb weld in the notches.filing the fangs.slix shots etc.the Remington's,never a problem.the Ruger's are to carry or hunt,of course.same question the other guy has.maybe do q video on what a cap post is and who or how you installed it?

Pretty good shooting with that nice piece. I have one as well, mine has “Hege Original” on the barrel. Was “speced” by a German company that specializes in more accurate teoría of original colts.

If your arbor is a little short it can tend to induce cylinder binding. Sometimes slipping a small split lock washer down into the arbor chamber in the barrel assembly can prevent the arbor from being pulled too far in by the wedge. If that helps, a set screw in the end of the arbor is a more adjustable and permanent solution. Does the wedge retention screw have a flat edge on the head that unlocks the wedge when positioned down like the Colt Open Tops? Then before you fully tighten down the screw to secure wedge tap the nose of the wedge a bit to push the notch in the wedge back against the screw head then tighten it down. That will secure it with out excess binding. Happy to see new video from you . I always enjoy them so much 👍DJ

Hi DJ, thanks for the tips! I have a Walker that has been tuned by Mike Brackett of goons gun works and he did an arbor modification similar to what you're describing here. I don't believe the wedge retention screw has a flat edge. I found that when I backed the wedge out just a tad the cylinder binding issue greatly reduced at the range.

I had the same proble with my '49. The hand is too long long. All small frame Ubertis have that problem. You just need to file it down just a hair. Duelist Den has a video that shows you how to do it. It just takes time.

The issue pretty much resolved itself once I backed out the wedge just a bit; having it in too far was causing most of the binding on this particular day. Thanks for watching!

I have one of these guns and out of all (read too many) percussion guns I have it takes the crown of the best cap jamamatic on the shelf. It is a very attractive gun, but my experience with it has not been good. The cap post solved the cap jam problem but I still prefer my 1851 Navy.

I also like Remington's more, the only issue with them tho is they're available in only two sizes: humongous and heavy or tiny and useless (with a shitty spur trigger!) Since Pietta nor Uberti are willing to make a repro of the New Model Police, I'm stuck with the 1862 for my .36 caliber fun in a compact size. We can always email Pietta/Uberti to ask them to make a repro of the Remington Police revolver and I think if enough of us make the request they eventually will.

Haha, good take on the Remingtons; Oversized in .44 and undersized in .31. Yes, if enough black powder enthusiasts made some sort of petition for the New Model Police, Pietta or Uberti may take a look.

I drill a small hole and use a roll pin then file out the safety pin slot in the hammer to fit. I put in slixshot nipples and that does it.

Hey, I know you have a planes pistol, 54 calibre I just found out that the 50 calibre rubber riot balls fit perfectly in the 54 calibre. I am curious I do not have any way to test the velocity. Would you consider it ?, They have a steel centre I got mine at big five for a less than lethal pistol , I used two patches works great no problem
