Shooting two 145+ year old .44 single shot rifles

Did Remington or other gun companies make rolling block single shot rifles in .44-40 ?

Hi Steve, I have a question. What reloading dies do you use on the 44 rimfire? I have a Remington rolling block in 44 short. It has a 29" barrel, and very similar to yours with the scallops on the stock and forend. I would like to get it shooting. I feel confident in making the conversion brass. Just curious as to the correct reloading die set I would need. Thank you! Dave

The chambers vary a lot in these early rifles. Mine is essentially the same a 44 S&W American. I use a 303 Savage sizing die, shop made expander plug in a Lee Universal die body and a .44 Special seater. If you are not already a member, you should join a facebook group I run. Its called "Obsolete rimfire and heel bullet talk". Lots of discussion and how-to on these long obsolete cartridges.
