"....because you can live without a Henry. But why should you?.....". What a GREAT and PROPER sentiment! I use a Uberti Henry for my cowboy action Frontiersman event. It's a superbly enjoyable firearm. Mine in 44-40 has comparable accuracy too.

If I had money in excess, I would definitely have someone develop and produce repros of those style of tools. I do know they survived in s9me form as late as the 30s, including in versions that had interchangeable dies that allowed different cartridges on the same tool. Closest thing I'm aware of in modern production is the Lee hand press, which isnt nearly as multifunctional.

I read a great book that spoke about the native Americans reloading the rimfire cartridges. Apparently US soldiers were sometimes ordered to crush or stab their brass to make it unusable by natives reclaiming their brass. Also I believe the Swiss used to reload their .41 ammo with it being downgraded in usage with each reloading.

"Damn gun you load on Sunday and shoot all week", That is what the Confederacy thought of the Henry rifles. I did a book report on the Henry rifle, it's origin and how it became the forerunner of the Winchester lever rifles, that was in 1965. The copper cases swelled when firing and after a while they would stick in the chamber and you had to remove them with a rod or possibly dig them out with your knife. The way they solved the problem on the field before brass cases came along was to cool they barrel and the rifle with water. I knew a family who had 6 old Henry original rifle years after I wrote the report, these had al been converted to shoot center fire or rim fire, of which they still ad a case or 2. They were great shooters. glad to see this video as I am with all your videos, thank you.

A homestead on Cow Creek was where they stopped, I went down there a lot to visit and hear about the past that had been handed down. The house was full of memorabilia from the 1800's and things that had been brought over from Europe in the early 1800's, a museum would have gone crazy there.

I've mentioned this rifle to you before, and I do enjoy how you share what you have learned with us on your channel. I have the so-called 1865 Henry Transistional in .44 WCF. If you have access to The Cowboy Chronicle from the Single Action Shooting Society, July 2023, you can read the article I produced for them about my favorite lever gun of all times The 1860 Henry Repeating Rifle. My Henry is in .45 Colt where I modified a .45 S&W Schofield cartridge so that my Henry holds 15 in the magazine and one in the chamber. I contend that when this rifle is shot the the rifle was originally designed to be operated it is the fastest lever gun with its inherent accuracy in all of SASS-CAS. I can discharge 16 rounds in 11 seconds and hit a 16"x16" steel plate 16 out of 16 times. I hope you find the article and check it out if not let me know and I will find you a copy. Thanks once again. - Colonel Montana Kid Hammer SASS 6476-Patron

@capandball9 ай бұрын
I never wipe the bore, and the rifle is just as accurate after 40 shots than after the 1st. The key is the quality and quantity of lube. The Lyman bullet I use holds a large amount of grease. I mix it from 6 parts tallow, 4 parts beeswax and just a touch of synthetic engine oil to get a substance that is close to the softness of a thicker hand cream.

@@alamosabill201 I am much more lazier than that: 1 wipe the bore with a wet patch, than use a thick brass brush, wet patch again, dry patch, Brunox saturated patch and ready. 3 minutes after shooting.
