@parawill70743 жыл бұрын
@@austinjones9970 - Having the edge has more to do with training and preparedness, not just the gear. If the GPNVG was around $10,000-$20,000, I can see people saving up for it and buying it. However, I went to combat tours using a mono and dual tube, and the job got done. Buying NVGs for civilian use requires careful decision making with respect to funding one's activities. I would not pay more than $6,000 for NVGs because I know for a fact that I can make them work without having to drop more money on a better model that is extremely high priced. Those with deep pockets who can afford it or guys with connections who can get them at a cheaper price can feel free to purchase them, but most of us can do without them.

Really good point about the pricing Lucas, if you want the top of the line fancy thing like 1st class in a plane it's going to cost you but in the end you don't really need it.

I love the normalization of everything. Such a high quality video also! I do think that you guys should show more side by side non ir footage so we can see the huge night vision advantage. Because it looks well lit enough that you wouldn't need nvg just because we can't really tell how dark it is.
@s23900 Жыл бұрын
Panos are without a doubt better for CQB. You pick up angles and identify threats way quicker. I think Lucas was right on the money when he said that quad tubes will someday be the standard. The GPNVG18 is great, but the weight of it is definitely a major downside. Wearing these for hours versus a PVS-31A is a massive difference. Hopefully it doesn't take another 7 years for the weight to come down. Lighter quad tubes with thermal overlay would be pretty amazing.

Well said chap, price of entry for the really gucci kit will always be high - like 8k TVs etc, but as the commercial model and viability becomes more favourable and the demand is there then the price comes down. Mil kit is a little different as there needs to be control measures to protect IP and investment and benefit gained. I think the driving demo was the best one to give a better indication of the improved FoV and utility. For me true digital NVG systems with AR will be the next big step but again it will take time for this to filter down to non-SF environments etc and the price of entry will be high….
