I have a 2000, 226K miles and counting baby. Bought it from some old hippie in Pacific Beach, California. No rust on the thing. I love it and will drive it as long as I can. Next car will be a 2005 Forester, hopefully in manual. Late 90's-mid 2000's Subarus forever man.

Got a h6 3.0 for $3500 today with 30 days of warranty all brand new parts and no rust all from a dealer. Great deal. Muffler, exhaust, and entire frame has 0 rust, the frame is under coated. And yes their was a small pinch of rust on the back fender. Not noticeable. All of this was found in ny. Where the salted roads are always salted. Great find, going to detail it weekly.

I loved mine. Pearl white paint with the tan under cladding. It was beautiful. Comfortable, fun to drive. Just a little bit tight for what it was (my 99 Camry was a lot larger inside). Ran very well until the head gaskets blew at 176k. If bought it used and didn't get a pre purchase inspection. Very important on a car like this. When they're maintained, they're great cars!

I really wished you would have at least touched on the LL Bean version. I have a 2002 with that option, and you get so many more options and features. For example, you get a 3.0 liter H-6 engine, leather seats, wood steering wheel, moonroof AND sunroof, automatic climate control, special wheels, heated EVERYTHING, and optional rear wing/spoiler. My 02 has 310,300 miles, and is still going strong. The 6 cylinder has significantly more power plus it isn't prone to head gasket failures like the 2.5. You can fold the rear seats and tow/haul a lot of stuff. I added an extra set of factory roof rack bars, and I have hauled nearly 800 pounds of lumber on top! They will surprise you. Overall a great video, but please don't breeze past some of the very important features that make this such an amazing car. Oh....and I bought my 02 (rust and damage free) for $450. The deals are there to be had, if you know where to look. 😉

My girlfriend has a 2003 outback LL Bean, with the leather seats and wood steering wheel and the sunroofs and all that stuff and it's a very comfortable and nice ride, the flat 6 is a great engine and honestly had more to give than I thought it would. She got it as a hand me down from her uncle and its been in their family for quite a while. I drive a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS "bugeye" and you can definitely tell a big difference in the nice interior quality and features of the the LL Bean outback.

I’ve been looking at an LLbean boi and just wondering on your input for one of these with to tow around 2 dirtbikes in a small trailer. Currently I use my xj Cherokee on 35’s and it’s so slow and already wanders without a load it just sucks. The Subaru I could see being able to do out of state trips even. Would you tow say 1400lbs behind yours?
@TangoCharlieAlpha
@TangoCharlieAlpha 2 жыл бұрын
@@kindasustho_ I love my LL Bean, and the H6 is a really good engine. The car is rated at 2400 lbs I believe, so 1400 lbs won't be an issue. The one thing to bear in mind, however, is that the cooling system on these is a little weak. If you plan on towing on the regular, I would strongly recommend adding an auxiliary cooler. In the meantime, if you tow and the temp starts climbing, turn on your heater and roll down the windows. That can bleed off some heat. Overall you should be fine towing with it! Hope that helps.

I bought an 02 Outback Limited rust free Florida car with 85K miles on it six years ago and love it. Yes it will do pretty much whatever you ask of it - I've been in a couple of nasty mudhole situations and the car didn't even blink. It's comfortable too and I'm a big guy. I'm currently at 131K miles and it runs like a top. I hope the timing belt has been replaced on that car being reviewed, though, as it has an interference engine and the belt life is 105K miles. Watch for head gasket leaks, too, extra steamy exhaust and brown milkshake in the radiator - those EJ 25 engines are notorious for that but good replacement head gaskets are available now.

Nice, Paul. Yeah, just keep fresh oil in the thing and drive it in a civil manner (like you're probably doing already) and you will keep on loving life in your buru! My 2000 with the 4 cylinder runs smoother and quieter than my moms ML320 Mercedes (a fantastic car in its own right). I'm lucky enough to own a rust-free example like you - I find that's the main killer with cars like this. Not the fastest but definitely fun to drive, and I know that whatever situation I get into on the road, the Outback can handle it.

@@sz8938 I have had my 2002 Subaru Outback for almost 4 months now. When I say I wouldn't have chosen a better car for 2600.00 bucks. This car is a beast and very hard core reliable. My only problem with it is the AC. If I can get my AC to blow cold in 100 degrees hot weather I will be okay. I plan to drive this car until the wheels fall off.

I have a 2000 Subaru Outback with a 5 Speed Manual. I don't have a weather station but I have a KenWood Stereo head unit. It currently has 213,550 miles on it. This is just a beater car I have for the winter and this summer I will drive it a couple days a week. I am rebuilding a 1999 Yamaha Zuma BW'S scooter to go along side of the car. So yeah, that's why and how I was able to by pass a car payment. Do I want a car payment? NO, I would rather have a cheap car and a scooter for warm days and or mild days. I got a Colorado car and it has no rust at all. It was from Colorado, I have always wanted a Subaru since I was 16. This is the best freaking vehicle I ever ever owned. It will need a exhaust this year but I am going with the old fashioned UEL and Glass Pack set up. I can't ask for any thing more this car does it all. Just installed a roof rack for the old winter beater looks bad ass. I can't to get my Zuma running. I plan to keep both vehicles for about 3-5 years stock pile cash and then get a newer outback and a newer Zuma thats in better shape then! This car is the shit. I had a 2006 Jetta TDI which was junk and then a 1997 Buick LeSaber. One nice thing about the Subaru is I can get a Buick like ride with some Yokahama AVID Tires. Very Good car!!

Figure in the price of a head gasket job at some point. It's a guarantee that you'll have to have it done. Not one of these engines, not one, escapes that fate at about 75,000 MI. And if you're looking at a five-speed, the clutch is not up to the task of spinning four wheels on such a heavy vehicle. He'll be needing to replace a clutch sooner than you normally would
