This shop went on fire today , I was sitting in the cornernote restaurant in Dalkey opposite the building when I noticed smoke coming coming out of it , for some reason I was compelled to film it , I was absolutely amazed and horrified at how fast the fire destroyed the building, I am so sorry for the poor lady that lost her home, and I have gained a new found respect for fire , check those fire alarms my friends ,,

I love how people keep saying where is the fire brigade, it was just over 6 mins, thats pretty good, from the time someone rings them, thats about a minute to take the details, the guys get dressed and drive there, thats another 5 mins, thats pretty bloody good. there isn't a fire station on every corner

This crew was very efective and fast to place a hose in working if you see most of fires in USA sometimes they take over 2 minutes to get water in the nozzle. Good work.

You're forgetting that the guys on call have to get from their homes (or wherever they are) to the firestation and then to the fire. A fire could start 10 metres from a station, and it might still take 5 minutes before the lads get there.

Its been four months since the fire in Dalkey and I have witnessed and been part of a wonderful community effort to get grainne back home, The house has been rebuilt through many fund raisers and much effort from local people and at a time when all is gone to hell in Ireland its been a joy to watch this community spirit alive and well in Dalkey. She is nearly there, Check the Get Grainne Home Group on Facebook

The Fire Brigade got there as quick as possible. The fire brigade is beside Bakers Corner a good 10mins from Dalkey so i'd say they arrived as quick as they could. Scary looking at how quick the place went up and luckily the wind was blowing the other otherwise Paddypowers might have got caught up in it also

the first crew were n attendance within 7 mins!!! and had the fire contained within 8! these ppl have to get from their house or work to the fire station, then mobilise! it wasn't a slow response!

I think this clip will prove invaluable for the future training of fire crews! Why I hear you ask ? Well see the end of the clip and watch the second fire truck slowly roll into the other vehicle while some firemen pass unawares between the closing gap.Serious leg injuries could have ensued. Another observation, I saw overhead wires that cross the street burning which could have broken and possibly fallen onto the fire truck!

You cant really pick on the irsh for their response time because you dont know what time the alarm was called in. What size is that hoseline that the fire was attacked with? it appears pretty small. Im used to the Unites States using bigger hoselines. Is there a certain strategy like steaming the fire you are trying to attempt?? Is that a standard attack line?? Thank you, nice engine and be safe!!

This video should be a great learning opportunity for the fire brigade, and should be viewed during a PIA (post incident analysis) As far as response time goes you would need to know the facts, availability, distance of response, is this a paid or volunteer department? all of these things are factors in response times. As far as the operations on scene there are a number of things that should be looked at. Apparatus placement is too close, consider collapse zone, firefighters not in SCBA's (self contained breathing apparatus) no fixed water supply, did they pass a hydrant? The officer should immediately consider life safety and exposure concerns. All fire responses differ, but there are some basic strategies and safety issues that should be used on all responses. As I said this video should be viewed by the fire brigade and used as a learning tool for future responses.

what do you want them to do..be there as they happen? They got there as fast as they could. You saw yourself how fast it started to spreed. I think you should think more about the lady been safe than the building its self. The building can be replaced but you can not replace a life.

Yeah. I know those buildings, as I work in one of them in Dalkey. It's like Hollywood film decoration made of timber frames and thin boards. Very old. This is why whole building burnt in 10 minutes.

Dalkey4you.. for your information, i was one on many bystanders at the scene of the fire, when i spotted the fire the very first thing I did was call a fire brigade ( as many other people did) the next thing i did was check that the lady who lived upstairs was safe, which she was, I then asked has paddy powers been checked and unfortunately was told by some muppet it had been, i did ask again during the fire and fortunately it was checked and emptied .. get your facts right ,

In Germany they could have been fired or sued because of needing more than 6 or 8 (Depends on the city) minutes to get the first Firetruck on the scene.

Blödsinn... Schutzzieldefinitionen sind eine Gesetzesgrundlage. Auch in diesen Definitionen steht stets eine Quote von >100% in der X Kräfte nach Y Minuten am Einsatzort einzutreffen haben...

6-8 Minutes to respond? In which big city is it even possible to respond that fast? Mind the distance and the traffic. Everything under ten minutes is good. I can't imagine that anywhere a longer respondtime than 6 Minutes is persecuted. Have an example?

As a Paid department. You also don't know when they called the Fire Brigade... You don't know when the call was dispatched... Where their Station is... too many variables to sue a FD on having a fire when it takes ~5 minutes for a room and contents room to flash.

Ahhhhhhhhh. Here they are called Volunteer Fire Departments and in rural America can be twenty minutes distant. They are commonly called " foundation savers) as the only thing remaining when they arrive is the foundation of the building. Cities and large town's have large fire departments and few fires. Most are now essentially emergency medical services.

The nearest fire station is in Dún Laoghaire ( If they are available ). They may be out at another call. next is Donnybrook / Rathfarnham. If the Minister of the Environment and local Government gets his way the response will be worse in the future as he plans to reduce the pre-determined attendance for all fire calls!

How far away is the Fire Brigade? In the city of Boston, MA I don't believe there is any building within two minutes of a fire station. Boston has always been very conscious of the devastation of fire since the Great Boston Fire that burned down 80% of the city and thereafter put a fire station within just minutes of another..

Talking out of your arse. The fire brigade arrived at 7:00 in this video. Allowing about 2 mins from the start of the fire to the start of recording (given the fire development) its a perfectly acceptable attendance time for a fire service anywhere... even in a country that has no fire cover or attendance standards. Just wait until The DLRCC manager and you'll know what a poor response time is ! And why do you want the Gardai..they dont put out fires !

Some of you non Irish people looking at the time it takes for emergency services to get to a location In such a long time. the answer Is our country is useless because of how small we are and how shit the economy is I broke my arm one evening actually in Dalkey and it took 25 mins for an ambulance to get there. I might as well of just crawled to the hospital!!

Who's the fire "bregade"? And I don't think it's "there" careless B.S. you need to concern yourself with As others have said, if they get cut they get there as quickly as they can. The Government make cuts that risks the lives of the public, not the fire brigade. Their purpose is just to serve and protect
